Chapter 205 The Step One to Deceive Ophe
Celia cared about her reputation and still refused to descend the staircase.
In the end, Finnegan and Ophe finished dinner and left without saying goodbye to Celia.
After they left, Celia finally descended the staircase unhappily and confronted Jude, scolding him, "Why didn't you call me during dinner?"
Jude deliberately teased Celia and said, "I saw that you didn't come downstairs, so I thought you weren't hungry. Do you want me to prepare the food for you?"
Celia glared at Jude and said, "I see how Ophe has mesmerized all of you. She comes and leaves without a greeting or farewell to me. Does she even respect me?"
Jude laughed and replied, "If you keep sulking, what can we do? Our son finally brought his wife home for a meal, and you're moping around. Who could be happy?"
"I don't acknowledge her identity," Celia coldly snorted.
"Well, I can't do anything about it. I'll go check on Mom," said Jude, not intending to persuade her. After being married for over thirty years, they understood each other's characters, after all.
Celia sulked alone in the living room. She thought about how, in all these years, besides Ophe, the only person who could influence Finnegan was Lynn.
Celia planned to bring Lynn back. As long as she could separate Ophe and Finnegan, she was willing to do anything.
So, Celia made a phone call and asked someone to find out where Lynn was.
Ophe and Finnegan also returned to Orchid Garden. Regarding the incident of Seraphina sending photos, Finnegan didn't mention it.
After returning home, Ophe felt sleepy and lay down on the bed, falling asleep instantly.
Finnegan originally wanted to go to the study room to attend to some matters, but when he saw Ophe sleeping so soundly, he thought about it and put aside his work to sleep with Ophe.
He lay beside her and habitually held her in his arms. As Ophe half-dreamed and half-was awake, she snuggled against him, turned over, and continued sleeping.
The next day, Ophe called Linda and invited her to go to the Japanese restaurant after Finnegan left.
The renovation of the Japanese restaurant was almost completed, and they were doing the final cleaning.
Ophe stood in the restaurant, imagining the scene of a prosperous business with tables filled with customers.
"Not bad, it's almost exactly as I imagined. We're just waiting for the opening now." Ophe asked, "How many people have been hired so far?"
"We have eight waiters and eight assistants in the kitchen," Linda said. We're still hiring, so it won't delay the opening."
"Linda, I trust you to handle everything," Ophe said excitedly, "I used to love eating Japanese food and had always fantasized about opening a Japanese restaurant. Finally, my dream has come true."
Linda smiled and said, "I used to dream of opening a coffee shop, but now I just think about it. There are coffee shops everywhere on the street, and it's already saturated."
While they were chatting, Ophe's phone rang, showing an unknown number.
Ophe took a moment to think before answering the call. On the other end of the line, Seraphina was crying, saying, "Ophe, help me, please, they're going to kill me, please save me."
"Seraphina, what's going on?" Ophe asked in confusion.
Fear could be heard in Seraphina's voice as she said, "The debt collectors, they've come again. Ophe, I live at xxxxxxx802."
"Seraphina, Seraphina..." Ophe nervously shouted several times.
The call had already been hung up.
Ophe foresaw that something had happened to Seraphina. She told Linda, "Linda, drive me somewhere."
Ophe didn't know what had happened, but she couldn't just stand by.
Half an hour later, Ophe arrived at Seraphina's residence based on the address and found a few large words written on the door.
"Pay back the money."
Ophe knocked on the door. "Seraphina?"
Soon, the door opened, and the room was a mess. Seraphina had bruises on her face. When she saw Ophe, she immediately rushed into her arms. "Ophe, I'm so scared. I thought I would never see you again; I thought you don't care about me anymore."
Seraphina cried heart-wrenchingly, and Ophe could feel her fear. Ophe nervously asked, "What's going on? What happened?"
