Chapter 445 The Due Date Has Arrived
The next day, Ophelia woke up early in the morning, dressed comfortably and elegantly rather than extravagantly.
The delegation came to pick them up at ten in the morning, and took them to the Royal Hotel.
As soon as the two left, Celia spread the news, praising Ophelia's abilities and saying that she had been invited to dine with the Prince of France.
At the Royal Hotel, Wilder was a bit nervous, too. He attached great importance to this dinner, changed into several outfits, and asked Catherine, "How about this one? Or is the other one better?"
Catherine smiled and said, "It's been years since you've cared so much about a lunch."
"We can't be rude," Wilder said, "We represent the French royal family."
Catherine teased, "You simply admire this girl."
While Wilder and Catherine were chatting, the delegation arrived and said, "Mr. and Mrs. Abbott have arrived."
"Alright, we'll be right there," Wilder said excitedly.
After choosing a blue suit, Wilder led Catherine to the restaurant.
Ophelia and Finnegan were already waiting. When they saw Wilder and Catherine, they stood up and greeted, "Mr. Jennings, Mrs. Jennings."
"Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Abbott," Wilder smiled, "Mr. Abbott, you are a fine-looking man, and you both make a perfect couple."
Standing together, Ophelia and Finnegan represented romance.
Seeing Ophelia up close, Catherine felt a bit dizzy, as if she were seeing Dovie from years ago.
The four sat down while the delegation members waited on the side.
This time, Wilder only invited Ophelia and Finnegan for dinner.
The four of them got along harmoniously at the table, and Wilder spoke in English in respect for Ophelia and Finnegan.
After lunch, Finnegan and Wilder went bowling while Ophelia and Catherine sat together chatting.
Feeling guilty, Catherine asked about the baby, "When is the little one due?"
"Mid-October," Ophelia smiled, "It's coming soon."
"I bless the little one. May this child have the best and smooth life," Catherine said, taking out a gemstone necklace. "Mrs. Abbott, please accept this. It's for the baby."
Ophelia politely declined, "How could I accept this? It’s too precious, Mrs. Jennings. Blessing my child is already a great fortune for the child."
"Please accept it. I can't do much for you. I quite like you, and this is our destiny, " Catherine said, wanted to ease her guilt. "Please accept it."
Catherine was very insistent, so Ophelia finally accepted. "Thank you, Mrs. Jennings."
"There's no need to thank me. You deserve it," Catherine smiled warmly, " If you ever need anything, you can come to France with this necklace, which allows you unrestricted access to the royal family."
This necklace was meant for the royal daughters, and Ophelia, as Wilder's eldest daughter, was entitled to it.
Catherine, having no daughters and only a son, decided to give the necklace to Ophelia.
Ophelia was surprised as this necklace looked like a royal pass.
Ophelia was very touched. "Thank you, Mrs. Jennings."
Catherine didn't dare ask about Ophelia's parents, so they only engaged in small talks.
Meanwhile, Finnegan and Wilder were playing bowling. They were evenly matched, with neither winning nor losing.
Of course, Finnegan let Wilder win, and he did it so skillfully that Wilder couldn't tell.
He wanted to give Wilder some face, as it concerned the dignity and friendship between their two countries.
Wilder was very sincere. "Mr. Abbott, you played well. It's been a long time since I've had such a good time. It's a pity the visit is short. Otherwise, we could have a few more games."
"You are always welcome, Mr. Jennings," Finnegan said, "I'll also bring my wife to France when I have the chance."
"You are very welcome," Wilder said cheerfully, "Mr. Abbott, you’re very lucky, and Mrs. Abbott is wonderful. I wish you a long and happy life together."
"Thank you."
After the lunch with Ophelia and Finnegan, Wilder had other matters to attend to, so they parted ways.
Wilder arranged for someone to take the two back, and as Ophelia had said, dining with the Prince of France brought benefits to both companies and strengthened the relationship between the two countries.
In the following days, after Wilder and his wife Catherine finished their visit, they returned to France, and Lance went back with them.
Niamh went to Europe to find Jesse and transferred all of Natalie's assets under her name for domestic relocation.
Niamh needed to gain business skills, so she had to rely on Jesse.
In the blink of an eye, Ophelia's due date was approaching, with only two days left according to the doctor. Ophelia was starting to feel nervous.
