Chapter 207 Loan Contract

Upon hearing Ophe's agreement, Seraphina was overjoyed and burst into tears. The burden of debt that had weighed on her for so long suddenly disappeared.

"Ophe, thank you." Seraphina sounded appreciative. However, her true feelings were far from grateful. What was a little over a million dollars to Ophe? She had to kneel and beg before she agreed to lend it.

Seraphina saw all of this as a deliberate humiliation from Ophe and one day; she would make Ophe taste the humiliation of having to beg.

Ophe did not immediately give the money to Seraphina. She knew that the collection agency had a three-day deadline and waited until the last moment.

After Seraphina left, Ophe called Magnus. "Magnus, do you know about Seraphina owing money?"

"You already know?" Magnus said, "Did Seraphina tell you?"

"Seraphina called me, and the collection company has come to the house to demand money," Ophe said, "Why did you keep it from me?"

"I didn't want you to worry," Magnus asked, "Did you agree to help Seraphina repay the money?"

"She kneeled to me just now." Ophe frowned. "If I didn't have enough money, I could refuse, but since I have it, I really can't be apathetic."

Ophe was tough on the outside but soft-hearted. She couldn't bring herself to do something like this.

But even with her soft heart, there were still limits.

She had to have a loan agreement from Seraphina, without interest but with installment payments of the principal.

Magnus remained silent on the phone for a few seconds and said, "Ophe, I'm sorry we have burdened you."

"Why are you saying this," Ophe said, "Draft an agreement for me. She must repay the money on time every month. I won't give this money to Seraphina for free, and she will learn a lesson."

"Alright."

After the call, Ophe breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Linda. "Linda, I apologize for all this."

"Ophe, Seraphina is clearly emotionally blackmailing you. Why did you lend her the money?" Linda said, "This amount of money is nothing for you and CEO Abbott's, but it's clearly wasted."

"Because of over twenty years of sisterhood, and because we grew up together." Ophe smiled bitterly. "Do you think I don't know she's acting? The swelling on her face wasn't caused by someone else but by herself. There are no signs of anyone else entering the house, and I'm sure no one came today for the collection."

Linda didn't know what to say for a moment.

If one's heart wasn't tough enough to meet this kind of person, one would truly suffer.

Ophe continued. "I can't just ignore this. With over one million in debt, Seraphina can't pay it back. Online loans can crush a person. I don't want to regret it later if something really happens. At least I can say I did my best right now."

Linda understood.

Ophe also felt helpless. When she cleaned up the house, she discovered the clues and realized that Seraphina had deceived her. She had mixed emotions.

When Seraphina kneeled, Ophe felt a pang of sadness.

Once, they were good friends who could talk about anything, but now, they have reached this point.

Ophe didn't make the decision alone; she also told Finnegan about this.

Finnegan received the call while playing golf with a client on the golf course.

Finnegan generously said, "Money is not a problem. We can give it to her and then cut ties." The investment of over a million dollars to see through someone was still worth it.

"Okay, I understand," Ophe said. "This will be the last time we help her."

"Yes." Finnegan asked with concern, "How is your appetite today?"

"It's fine," Ophe said, feeling a bit worried. "I wonder how much weight I'll gain after the baby is born."

Finnegan spoke indulgently, "It's not a big deal."

The two chatted on the phone for a while before hanging up.

The next day, Magnus drafted a loan contract that was more legal than an IOU. The contract clearly stated that Seraphina borrowed one million five hundred thousand dollars, with a monthly repayment of five thousand dollars over a twenty-five-year contract period. This was equivalent to Seraphina taking out a mortgage to buy a house, with installment payments without interest.

Ophe found a café, where the three of them sat down and had a discussion, showing Seraphina the contract.

"Seraphina, take a look. If there are no problems, then you can sign it."

Seraphina was surprised after reading it. She didn't expect Ophe to be serious. She had only expected to write an IOU without actually repaying the money. That would be something for the future. But now, the loan contract clearly stated that legal action would be taken if she failed to repay on time.
