Chapter 92 Birthday Gift

Sometimes, as words get passed along, their meanings tend to shift.

With Old lady Abbott's agreement and Finnegan not objecting, wouldn't that mean it's practically a done deal?

Celia, thrilled, phoned Dovie, "Dovie, when are you free? Let's get both families together for a meal and talk about the kids. We've asked Finn for his take, and he's not against it…"

Parks Corporation.

Dovie was equally pleased when she received the call. Aware of her daughter's fondness for Finnegan, she knew this great news would make her very happy.

Planning to personally share the joy with Niamh, Dovie decided to buy her daughter a birthday gift, with Christmas also fast approaching.

As Dovie left the office, she bumped into Ophelia returning from outside at the elevator doors.

Ophelia stepped aside respectfully, "Good day, Ms. Parks."

Dovie, with a nod, entered the elevator and then, on a whim, called to Ophelia, "Ophelia, come with me."

"Yes, Ms. Parks," Ophelia replied, following obediently without inquiry.

Ophelia kept pace with Dovie until they reached the department store. Only then did she realize the purpose of their outing.

Entering a luxury boutique, they were immediately greeted by a senior sales associate, "Welcome, how may I assist you today?"

Dovie glanced around the store for a moment and said, "I'm here to buy clothes for my daughter. What's new for the season? Bring it all out for me to see."

The sales associate glanced at Ophelia standing nearby and said with a smile, "Your daughter has fair skin and a great figure. A lot of our clothes this season would fit her perfectly. Please, follow me to the second floor where our newest collections are."

Ophelia felt a bit awkward, mistaken as the daughter of a CEO.

Dovie looked at Ophelia and clarified, "She's not my daughter, but my daughter has a similar build to hers."

Then, speaking to Ophelia, Dovie said, "You're about the same age as Niamh, and I guess you young folks have similar tastes. Could you help me pick something out? Niamh's birthday is coming up, and she hasn't liked the gifts I've chosen before."

Besides clothes, the store was filled with luxury handbags and jewelry.
"Such a loving mother to her daughter," Ophelia said enviously. "I'm sure Miss Niamh will adore anything you give her because it's the thought from a mother to her daughter that counts."

Dovie chuckled and then followed the sales associate to the second floor.

The variety there was even greater, and Ophelia's head spun as she looked at the dazzling clothes, with price tags that were jaw-dropping. A single inconspicuous piece could cost six figures.

Dovie mentioned, "Niamh's birthday is next Tuesday, it's too late for a custom order now. In the past, her clothes were always made to order."

Upon hearing the date, Ophelia was inwardly surprised. That day was her birthday too.

As Dovie browsed through the clothing, she casually asked, "Ophelia, when is your birthday?"

Ophelia honestly responded, "Next Tuesday as well."

"Really? That's such a coincidence, the same day as Niamh," Dovie said with a smile. "Which year were you born in?"

"I was born in the 19xx," Ophelia revealed.

Astonished again, Dovie exclaimed, "The same exact day and year as Niamh, that's amazing."

Ophelia also found it very coincidental and just smiled.

Same birthday, but such different lives. She and Niamh shared their birth details, yet their destinies were worlds apart.

Because of this shared birthday, Dovie's fondness for Ophelia grew even more.

After exploring the clothing section together, they moved on to picking out jewelry.

Dovie had bought her daughter Niamh a pearl necklace, and when checking out, she grabbed a pair of earrings for Ophelia, casually handing them over, "Happy birthday, Ophelia."

Ophelia was taken aback as she had glimpsed the price tag of the earrings moments before—fifty thousand.

"Chairwoman, this is too extravagant, I can't accept it."

"Just take it," Dovie said with a smile. "It's not that expensive. You and Niamh share the same birthday, which is a rare connection. You've been doing well in the company, so consider it a reward and an early birthday wish."

Ophelia was deeply touched. Besides Seraphina and Magnus, Dovie was the only other person to give her a birthday gift in recent years.

"Thank you, Ms. Parks."

Though a mere trifle for Dovie to give away, to Ophelia, the earrings were of immense value.

Back at home and lying on her bed, Ophelia stared at the earrings in her hand for a long time, realizing she had never received a birthday gift from her mother...

Just then, she heard a sound at the door—the noise of a key turning in the lock—and immediately tensed up.
