Chapter 528 Walking into a Trap
Tate was in a dilemma. If she provided Ophelia with the contact information, that would lead Ophelia into trouble. She was determined not to do so.
"Ophelia, as I said, Moonlight Gate won't take this job, and you'd better not get involved with them. Moonlight Gate is a criminal organization that will tarnish the Abbott family's reputation and bring unnecessary trouble," Tate deliberately exaggerated. "The police are already investigating, so you should wait for updates from them."
"Is that so?" Ophelia stared at Tate, her intuition telling her that Tate was hiding something from her.
"It is," Tate said. "Wait a bit longer. I'm leaving City N, and I might not come back."
"Why?" Ophelia asked. "Where are you going?"
Tate remained silent, her attitude making it clear that she couldn't speak freely.
After observing Tate for a while, Ophelia realized that Tate's return this time was not as simple as it seemed. "Alright, I respect your decision." Ophelia took two steps back, refraining from further questioning, and said, "We've known each other for a while now. I wish you luck."
Tate hesitated to speak, but in the end, she said nothing and walked downstairs. As she reached the ground floor, Tate collided with the hurried Caspian.
Caspian, learning about Finnegan's situation, rushed over anxiously, surprised to see Tate there, and asked, "What are you doing here? Tate, how's your injury? Are you here for Finnegan?"
Tate responded softly and continued walking outside.
Caspian found Tate's demeanor too indifferent.
Just as he was about to call out to Tate, she suddenly stopped in her tracks, turned to look at Caspian, then turned and walked away.
"Why is she acting so strangely? At least I saved her life, and she didn't even say hello," Caspian muttered.
Concerned about Finnegan, he went upstairs to find Ophelia, only to see her coming down from upstairs. "Ophelia."
Ophelia, looking in the direction Tate had left, asked Caspian thoughtfully, "Do you know about the Moonlight Gate organization in the underworld?"
Caspian asked, "Ophelia, why do you ask about this?"
"I want to seek help from Moonlight Gate to find Finnegan." Ophelia's persistence in seeking Moonlight Gate's help was driven by a psychological impulse. She didn't know why, but there was a voice inside her compelling her to do so. Combined with Tate's unusual reaction, she was even more determined to involve Moonlight Gate.
Caspian assured her, "Leave this to me. I've heard of Moonlight Gate. I'll inquire about them. They are all about money in the underworld, and they are said to be very capable. Maybe they can find Finnegan quickly."
Ophelia nodded, and Caspian added, "Don't worry, the police haven't found Finnegan yet, which means he's safe. If Atticus is fine, Finnegan must be too."
"I'm fine," Ophelia said gratefully. "Caspian, thank you."
Caspian smiled. "Don't be so polite to me. I'll inquire about Moonlight Gate first. Once I have information, I'll let you know."
"Okay, inform me as soon as possible," Ophelia reminded him. "Don't reveal your identity, and don't let them know it's me who's looking for them."
Caspian wanted to ask why but thought better of it. This matter indeed required some secrecy, so he refrained from asking.
On the first day of Finnegan's disappearance, Ophelia couldn't sleep. Besides worrying, she pondered over Atticus's words. The first tire burst was definitely not due to something being run over but the first attack on Finnegan. But why was there a gap before the second attack? Could it be a different group the second time? Why was the first attack not severe, just bursting the tire?' she thought.
Ophelia pondered these questions and became more convinced that Finnegan was still alive.
As the night grew darker, Deacon was being guarded by several police officers in the hospital. After Landon made his inspection and handed off his shift to a colleague, he left. One of the officers opened the door to check on Deacon, who was lying on the
A police officer opened the door to check on Deacon, who was lying on the hospital bed without any issues. The officer closed the door and sat at the bedside to keep watch.
At the same time, on the rooftop across from the hospital window, Tate aimed a sniper rifle in Deacon's direction.
