Chapter 732 Secretly Causing Trouble
Tate eyed the dresses the trio had picked out. Raymond's choice was a classy white number, all elegant and grand.
Barbara went for a dreamy blue dress with a feathered neckline, giving it a light and lively vibe.
Eugene picked out this pink and white gradient dress that was totally adorable and girly.
Tate was stuck; picking one would definitely hurt the other two's feelings.
"Tate, trying on dresses?" Karen showed up, annoyingly chipper. "They're gorgeous."
All three were high-end designer pieces, each costing a fortune.
Tate tossed the tough decision to Karen. "You pick. I'm stumped."
"The white one," Karen said. "The neckline's not too low. It fits your usual style, and white looks great on you."
Karen chose it because she knew the other two dresses were from Eugene and Barbara.
The pink and white gradient one was Karen's favorite, so pretty it could make anyone look like a fairy.
The dreamy blue one was also stunning, especially with the feathered neckline.
Tate didn't bother guessing Karen's schemes. She could wear anything, so she said, "Alright, the white one it is."
Karen was surprised Tate actually took her advice.
Barbara chimed in, "Alright then, the white one it is. Tate, try it on."
"Okay."
Tate took the dress to the bathroom and came out after changing.
The white satin gown was soft as moonlight, fitting perfectly, showing off her curves. As she walked, the satin shimmered under the light, making her look like a full moon, more beautiful than the moonlight itself.
Karen suddenly regretted choosing this dress. It was simple, but with some embellishments, it looked elegant and noble.
Barbara's eyes lit up. "No wonder you're my darling, so beautiful. Turn around, let me see."
Tate turned around. She had learned poise at Moonlight Gate. Sometimes, assassination missions required blending in. Etiquette and poise were essential for Moonlight Gate assassins.
Tate had a great figure and poise, exuding nobility and elegance, which made Karen very jealous.
Barbara, however, couldn't stop smiling. "Beautiful! This outfit will definitely make you the star of the show tomorrow."
Tate said, "It's thanks to Karen."
Karen was left speechless.
Thinking she already had a way to ruin Tate's reputation, her jealousy faded a bit.
Karen forced a smile. "It's because Tate is beautiful. It's not the dress that makes the person, but the person that makes the dress."
"You're so sweet," Barbara teased, feeling reassured seeing their good relationship.
Tate said, "Mom, it's getting late. Let's rest early. I'll change out of the dress, and you can put it away."
With that, Tate went to the bathroom, changed out of the dress, and handed it to Barbara.
Barbara didn't think much of it. "Alright. Karen and I will go rest. You should sleep early too, so you can look your best tomorrow."
"Okay." After sending them off, Tate's phone rang. It was Caspian calling.
Tate hadn't closed the door yet and answered, "Caspian, why are you calling so late..."
Karen, who was walking out of the room, heard the conversation. Thinking about how Caspian was so devoted to Tate, she felt jealous.
The door was closed by Tate, and Karen couldn't hear what they were saying anymore.
Barbara told Karen, "Go to bed early. Don't stay up late."
"Mom, I know." Karen was in a bad mood.
Seeing Barbara put the dress in the storage room, Karen had an idea.
She wouldn't let Tate steal the spotlight, only embarrass herself.
If the dress ripped at the return banquet, causing a wardrobe malfunction, Tate would be utterly humiliated.
Thinking about it, Karen acted like she was heading back to her room. Once Barbara was out of sight, she snuck into the storage room, found the dress, and in a fit of rage, took some scissors to the zipper.
"Let's see how you steal the spotlight." Karen did it discreetly, so even if Tate wore the dress, she wouldn't notice the zipper problem.
