Chapter 360 Beginning to Suspect
Ophelia's words made Natalie feel very guilty.
That was a secret in Natalie's heart, but now, Dovie seemed to know, Ophelia seemed to know, and even Magnus had asked before.
Who exactly leaked that she had a child?
Natalie thought of the time she went to the orphanage to find Hollis. 'Could it be that Hollis betrayed her?' She thought.
This time, Natalie didn't deny it and said, "I had no choice. Who can bear to abandon their child?"
Seeing Natalie admit it, Ophelia calmly pursued. "What kind of situation forced you to abandon your child?"
Natalie wanted to move Ophelia to gain her sympathy, so she said a bit falsely, "This secret has been hidden in my heart for over twenty years. Back then, I left New York and went to Europe alone to do business. I met a man and was deceived by him as I was young and naive. After I got pregnant, the man disappeared without a word. I was unmarried and pregnant, which was something to be ridiculed for over twenty years ago."
As Natalie spoke, her eyes reddened. It was the first time she talked about her youthful experiences.
Talking about this, she still felt hatred and regret in her heart as she hated that man.
Natalie continued, "I couldn't bear to abort the child, so I secretly gave birth."
Ophelia clenched her fists. "Then why didn't you raise the child after giving birth?"
"The nanny stole the child." Natalie said half-truthfully, "By the time I found out, the nanny was gone too. Back then, finding someone was like looking for a needle in a haystack."
Ophelia stared at Natalie. She hoped so much that Natalie would admit her as her daughter, but Natalie didn't.
At this point, Natalie changed the subject and said, "Ophelia, why don't you call Finnegan and ask? Dovie cares so much about you and is always looking out for you. Niamh is Dovie's only daughter. You can't repay kindness with ingratitude."
"Natalie, I have no obligation to help you. If there's nothing else, please leave." Ophelia didn't give any kindness and asked her to leave the house. "Lina, see the guest out."
She had given Natalie a chance, but Natalie didn't seize that.
After saying this, Ophelia went upstairs.
"Ophelia."
Natalie still wanted to plead, but Lina blocked her. "Natalie, please leave. Ophelia needs to rest."
Natalie was furious. As she walked to the door, she made a sarcastic remark.
Ophelia stood on the balcony upstairs, taking in all of Natalie's actions.
She thought of Natalie's tearful recount of her youthful experiences.
'Since Natalie loved her daughter, why wouldn't she admit it?'
'Wasn't Natalie looking for me?'
'Even if she didn't want to acknowledge me, she didn't have to despise me so much, as she had given birth to me after all.'
'If she didn't despise me, then why spit at the door? Ophelia was quite confused.
Although there was some distance, Ophelia could guess from Natalie's behavior that she must have said something unpleasant.
No mother would deny her child and curse her.
Ophelia now had some doubts. 'Am I really Natalie's daughter?
'If not, then why did she go to the orphanage looking for someone with a birthmark on their waist?'
'Who exactly was she looking for?'
'Who am I on earth?' Natalie was lost in confusion again.
Regardless of whether Natalie was her mother, Ophelia believed that Natalie must know who she was.
In the North Gate Villa, Niamh's hands were bleeding profusely, her face pale as a piece of paper, and the blood on the floor had slowly coagulated.
Niamh still refused to admit to killing Sybil and harming Seraphina.
She bit her lip, trying hard to suppress her fear.
The golden python circled her around.
Finnegan had lost his patience. "If you don't want to talk, then you can tell it to God."
As he spoke, Finnegan made a gesture to the golden python. "Golden python, enjoy your dinner."
With Finnegan's command, the golden python's tail wrapped around Niamh's body, coiling tightly.
Niamh's face turned red from being squeezed, her blood flowing backward, and her bones seemed to be on the verge of being crushed by the golden python. The suffocation made it difficult for her even to open her mouth to speak.
"Finnegan." Caspian couldn't bear to watch and wanted to plead.
After all, the two families had a relationship over generations. If Niamh really died, it would be a big deal.
Finnegan glanced coldly at Niamh. "You owe a debt, and you have to pay it."
After saying this, Finnegan walked towards the door. Just as he stepped outside, his phone rang. It was Old Abbott calling.
Finnegan frowned and answered, "Grandma Abbott."
Old Abbott's aged voice came through the receiver. "Finnegan, don't cause any deaths. I don't want to go to heaven with guilt to meet George."
