Chapter 735 Testing Lily
After Tate's question, Finnegan realized Lily had been in the restroom for quite a while.
Finnegan wasn't worried; he knew Lily was avoiding him on purpose. She hated him so much she didn't even want to see him.
"Ophelia went to the restroom, Tate. Can you check on her for me?" Finnegan couldn't go into the women's restroom himself.
Lily had a heart condition, and he was worried she might faint like she did at the office last time.
It hit Finnegan that Lily had become completely indifferent to him after her hospitalization. The doctor had warned that Lily's condition couldn't handle any stress, or the consequences would be dire. She needed to recuperate properly.
'Is this why Ophelia's been so distant? Is she saying goodbye in her own way, just in case?' Finnegan wondered.
Thinking of this, Finnegan decided to investigate that guy named Wayne again. After the homecoming party, he would personally meet Wayne to see if his suspicions were correct.
Tate said, "Alright, I'll go check."
Tate lifted the hem of her dress and headed to the restroom. This area was secluded, and few people came to use the restroom.
As Tate approached, she saw Lily sitting on a bench in the hallway next to the restroom, holding a bottle of mineral water with a pillbox beside her. She had just taken some medication.
Lily had felt discomfort in her chest earlier. She had used the restroom as an excuse to avoid Finnegan and to take her medication in private.
Even after the surgery, she still had to keep her medication close at hand.
Tate walked over and immediately noticed the name of the medication on the pillbox. Having been experimented on by Moonlight Gate, she recognized many drug names and their primary uses at a glance.
The medication Lily was taking was clearly for post-heart surgery recovery.
"You had heart surgery?" Tate suddenly spoke up from behind Lily.
Lily turned around, a flash of panic in her eyes when she saw Tate. She quickly put the medication back in her bag. "Yes, I did. Finnegan knows about it. It happened during that typhoon incident when I got injured."
"He's been worried sick! Asked me to come find you since you'd been gone so long," Tate said. "Feeling any better?"
"Much better."Lily stood, flashing a smile."Wow, you look amazing! Congrats, it's a fresh start for you after today."
Lily didn't know much about Tate's past. It was Finnegan who had told her that Tate used to be part of the Moonlight Gate organization and was the long-lost daughter of the Stewart family.
"Thank you," Tate said. "The homecoming party is about to start. Let's head back to the banquet hall."
"Okay." Lily was somewhat wary of Tate. Tate had a cold demeanor and sharp eyes that seemed to see through everything, completely different from Lynn.
Lynn had a gentle nature and cared deeply for Finnegan, while Tate cared about Ophelia herself and recognized Ophelia. Today's invitation to Finnegan was also for Ophelia's sake. Once she found out Lily wasn't Ophelia, it would be impossible to hide it.
Lily walked ahead, and Tate deliberately lagged behind. She had interacted with Lily twice, and Lily's personality seemed soft, often showing a conflicted look in her eyes. The previous Ophelia was never like this.
Ophelia's eyes were always resolute. Even if there was only a glimmer of hope, Ophelia would take a decisive gamble.
Back in Country A, to save Finnegan, Ophelia had risked her life without a moment's hesitation.
"Ophelia," Tate suddenly called out to Lily.
Lily reflexively turned around. "What is it?"
Tate smiled. "I just remembered something. You go ahead to the hall and find Finnegan. I'll go look for my parents."
"Okay." Lily didn't think much of it and walked straight to the hall.
Tate watched Lily's back. From her back, she couldn't find any trace of Ophelia in Lily.
'What's the deal? Even if you lose your memory, your body and habits don't just vanish. It's like, hardwired, you know? Is she even really Ophelia?' Tate wondered.
As an assassin, Tate was skilled at disguises and could see through others' disguises. If someone was wearing a mask, she could tell, unless it was plastic surgery.
