Chapter 658 High-Paying Job Offer

Though scolded by Susan, Lloyd still held back from shooting.

"Mrs. Abbott, mark my words, I'll repay your kindness by allowing you to witness the Abbott family's ultimate downfall, their utter ruin," Lloyd declared with a steely resolve. "It's Finnegan who's driven me to this edge, so don't lay the blame on me."

Lloyd planned to directly eliminate the Abbott family, making Susan watch its downfall.

"You bastard." Susan gritted her teeth in anger. She didn't have many teeth left, and she almost ground the remaining ones to pieces in her fury.

"Mrs. Abbott, stay alive, keep watching, and witness the Abbott family's destiny unfold."

Lloyd's expression twisted into a sneer. "Your kindness was repaid when you staged your death to trap me into the hands of the law."

With that, Lloyd opened the door and prepared to leave.

Susan shouted, "Lloyd, don't make more mistakes. If you turn yourself in, I will make sure your life is spared."

"I'm already in my fifties. If I surrender, I'll either face execution or spend the rest of my days rotting in a cell. Why shouldn't I take a risk?" Lloyd remained resolute in his decision and departed without wavering.

Ophelia was very worried about Susan, afraid that Lloyd might go mad and harm her.

Ophelia put the exhausted, crying Warmie to sleep and anxiously waited for Susan to return.

After a long wait, Susan was finally brought back.

"Grandma." Ophelia's heart finally settled. "Grandma, did Lloyd hurt you?"

Susan shook her head and sighed as she sat down. "I couldn't persuade him. I hit him, I scolded him, but Lloyd just won't turn back. He still wants to destroy the entire Abbott family."

Ophelia comforted Susan, "Grandma, Finnegan must know that Lloyd took us. The Abbott family has Finnegan's support, and the police will find us soon. Don't worry."

They were on the sea, and opening the window allowed them to see the ocean. Ophelia felt desperate, knowing the chances of the police finding them were slim.

Even if they were found, there was no guarantee they could be rescued.

Susan and Warmie were both on her mind, and Ophelia didn't dare to be careless, yet she was helpless.

She had no means of communication to notify Finnegan as she was imprisoned here and could do nothing.

On the other side, Finnegan knew Ophelia had been taken out to sea but could do nothing. He was also anxious.

Finnegan used his connections to contact the Moonlight Gate's information department and got in touch with Lloyd through them.

Finnegan expressed that as long as Lloyd released the three of them, he was willing to give up everything, even the entire Abbott family.

Finnegan never valued wealth; he only wanted his family to be safe.

Finnegan was more anxious than anyone, but he was helpless because his weakness was being exploited.

His offer was directly ignored by Lloyd.

Desperate, Finnegan contacted another underworld organization, the Shadow Syndicate.

He was willing to spend a fortune to have the Shadow Syndicate help rescue Ophelia, Warmie, and Susan from Moonlight Gate.

When the Shadow Syndicate received the task, Harold Lopez, who was in charge of this business, simply replied, "Deal."

There were countless underworld organizations, but besides the rampant Moonlight Gate in recent years, the Shadow Syndicate was also at its peak.

The founder of the Shadow Syndicate, with the last name Lopez, had developed the organization over decades. Two generations of growth had made it capable of looking down on any other underworld organization.

Finnegan was only a businessman and hadn't cultivated his own forces. To safely bring the three back from the sea, the Shadow Syndicate was almost his only hope.

With Ophelia in trouble, Susan's funeral was paused, causing much speculation within their circle. Everyone was puzzled, not knowing what the Abbott family was up to.

Caspian, upon hearing about the incident, called Finnegan. "Finnegan, has something happened? Mrs. Abbott's funeral is on hold. I heard that she isn't dead and was taken by Lloyd. What's going on? Where are you now?"

"It's a complicated tale. I'm not in Yorkhaven. Please take care of my parents and be cautious of any threats from Moonlight Gate targeting them." Finnegan had organized for bodyguards and police surveillance, yet his concerns lingered. In case of any emergencies, Caspian could promptly inform him.
