Chapter 239 Need the Child, But Not the Mother
The news of Ophe's pregnancy wasn't spread; Finnegan and Ophe hadn't told anyone from the old house either; Celia had just learned about it. Along with her shock, she felt a sense of confusion. She didn't like Ophe, but Ophe was carrying Abbott's Family's child in her belly. A daughter-in-law could be disregarded, but a grandson couldn't be discarded.
After seeing Celia's reaction, Lynn was also surprised. How could Celia not know about Ophe's pregnancy?
Ophe calmly took a bite of pasta and casually said, "Yes, I'm pregnant."
Celia frowned tightly and bit her lower lip. "You are so capable. It hasn't been long, and you're already pregnant."
Ophe smirked intentionally and said, "Speaking of this matter, I have to praise your son."
"You didn't have to say that." Celia felt embarrassed.
Ophe laughed. "What's there to be embarrassed about, Celia? You're an experienced person."
Celia stared at Ophe's belly and asked, "How long have you been pregnant? Have you done a check-up? What did the doctor say?"
Having Celia show concern for Ophe's belly gave Lynn a bad feeling. Even if Celia didn't like Ophe, she might still give the biological mother some face for the sake of the child.
Ophe arrogantly replied, "Celia, you're not related to me in any way. My private matters naturally don't need to be shared with you. If you want to know, you need to pay. The consultation fee per question is ten thousand dollars."
Celia glared at Ophe. "Your true nature is finally revealed. You're only after our money. You think you can control us, the Abbott's Family, just because of your child? Let me tell you, it's impossible. I don't care about the child in your belly."
Ophe touched her belly and said, "She's not your child. I'm going to the restaurant."
Ophe actually directly ignored them and left.
"What's your attitude?" Celia pointed angrily at Ophe. "You are so uncultured."
Ophe left, and Celia slammed the table in frustration. "She has no manners at all. She thinks she's so special just because she's pregnant. Who cares?"
Lynn watched Celia silently and asked, "Now Ophe is pregnant, what are your plans?"
Celia replied without hesitation, "I don't acknowledge a daughter-in-law like her, but I do acknowledge the child. Lynn, no matter how you try to get them divorced, you can't harm the child. If you dare to cause any harm to the child, I won't spare you."
Even though Celia claimed not to care in front of Ophe, that was far from the truth. After all, it was Finnegan's first child.
Lynn sneered and said, "Celia, how do you plan not to spare me? Are you planning to repeat your old tricks?"
Celia was caught off guard by Lynn's gaze and felt a bit uneasy. She responded displeasedly, "I've already given you a chance. Whether you can seize it or not is up to you. Don't think I owe you anything. I don't owe you anything, and I have already compensated you," Celia said and walked away.
She didn't like Ophe, and she liked Lynn even less.
Back then, she had someone insult Lynn, but she also provided compensation.
She didn't feel indebted to Lynn.
Lynn stared at Celia's departing figure, clenched her fists, and a hint of hatred flashed in her eyes.
Ophe continued to ignore Finnegan's messages despite having seen all of them. Unable to sleep at home, she chose to sleep on the office sofa at the Japanese restaurant. She slept from morning until afternoon without waking up.
Addison worried and entered the office and asked, "Ophe? What's wrong?"
Ophe woke up and sat up straight. "Addison, what time is it now?"
"It's already past five in the afternoon," Addison replied. "Customers have been coming in gradually."
Ophe muttered to herself, "I've slept for so long." She glanced at her phone and saw several more messages and missed calls from Finnegan. It was evident that he was becoming anxious.
