Chapter 457 Compensation

Over the next few days, Ophelia stayed in the hospital for a week before being discharged.

Finnegan hired two nutritionists, two childcare experts, and two postpartum recovery specialists, all of whom were dedicated to taking care of Ophelia and the baby, with a clear division of labor.

Ophelia only needed to focus on recuperating, as everything else was taken care of by others.

Since Ophelia had no breast milk and inducing lactation was painful, Finnegan didn't want Ophelia to suffer and allowed Lucky to have formula milk.

If it had been breastfeeding, Ophelia wouldn't have rested well, having to wake up every night to feed, which would have been too exhausting.

Whether breast milk or formula, Celia didn't mind, as the mother's mood was also crucial.

After resting for ten days, Ophelia was fully mobile and no longer in pain. Finnegan finally agreed to let Ophelia go to the morgue to see Magnus, which was necessary for Ophelia.

As November approached, the weather in New York turned cold. Finnegan wrapped Ophelia in a thick coat and made sure she wore a hat.

"You mustn't catch a cold. I asked the doctor, and they said if you catch a cold during the postpartum period, you might get headaches in the future."

Ophelia deeply felt Finnegan's care for her during these days. Even in an ordinary family, not every man could be as meticulous as Finnegan after his wife gave birth.

But Finnegan managed it.

He warmed her entire world with love.

Suddenly, Ophelia felt the urge to hug Finnegan. With that thought in mind, she did just that.

Ophelia reached out and encircled Finnegan's waist, burying her face in his chest. "Honey, you're so good."

She couldn't imagine how she would have gotten through these days without Finnegan.

Finnegan embraced her, his voice gentle. "We are a couple, sharing joys and sorrows. When you married me, I took on the responsibility to care for you, cherish you and love you."

Ophelia looked up at Finnegan's face and, for a moment, amidst the cold winter, she felt the warmth of spring blossoming.

The two of them went to the police station. After Magnus's body underwent a second autopsy, it had been stored in a freezer.

Finnegan chose not to have him cremated, waiting for Ophelia to have one last look.

Upon seeing Magnus's body, Ophelia turned around, burying herself in Finnegan's embrace, crying uncontrollably.

She was unable to contain her emotions, as memories flooded Ophelia's mind.

Magnus would give her all his bread, falsely claiming he was full.

Magnus was a friend, a family member, and a brother. Ophelia bit her lip so hard it bled, feeling no pain.

"Alright, let's go out first," Finnegan said, not wanting Ophelia to stay there, worried that she would be more upset. The cold air in the room wasn't good for her either.

Finnegan helped Ophelia to a chair outside and handed her a glass of warm water.

"Ophe, have some water." Ophelia took the glass and drank it all in one go, needing to suppress her emotions.

Just then, she heard a voice not far away. "Landon, Magnus's family is here. His parents are waiting in the lobby."

Tobias Cobb and Riley arrived. They were Magnus's parents, and naturally, the police had informed them.

Landon came out of the evidence room. "They've been notified for ten days. Why did they only come today?"

Landon saw Ophelia and Finnegan and said to his colleague, "You go meet the family first. I'll come over in a bit."

"Okay," the colleague left.

Landon approached Ophelia and Finnegan. "Mr. Abbott, have you seen the body?"

Finnegan nodded. Ophelia asked, "Mr. Benedict, how is the case progressing?"

"Rex confessed," Landon said. "Just yesterday, we found new evidence. Someone was taking night shots from the building across and happened to capture Rex pushing the person off the building. This should provide closure for the deceased."

Ophelia inquired further, "Did they capture anything else? Can I see the photos?"

Finnegan remained silent, but he couldn't shake the feeling that the case was progressing too smoothly. Everything seemed logical, yet there was an eerie feeling of things being too perfectly arranged.

It seemed too coincidental that Rex was caught at the station and then confessed, followed by the sudden appearance of a witness.

However, this was just Finnegan's speculation. Magnus didn't seem to warrant such a meticulously orchestrated scheme.

Landon said, "You can't see the photos for now. You can view them during the trial."

Before he could finish, Tobias approached. "Officers, my son was murdered. Is there any compensation?"
