Chapter 320 Someone Wants to Harm Our Baby
Old Abbott, at this age, definitely wouldn't be menstruating, so something was clearly wrong.
Ophelia hurriedly said, "Take her to the hospital."
Celia was so frightened that she was in a flurry.
Old Abbott was in so much pain so she wanted to go to the restroom.
Ophelia instructed the butler to drive the car around while Celia helped Old Abbott to the restroom.
In the bathroom, it was evident upon inspection that there was bleeding, and it was quite a significant amount.
Old Abbott was experiencing both bleeding and diarrhea, along with vomiting, which frightened Ophelia and Celia.
It was unclear what was happening to Old Abbott, whether she had ingested something that harmed her stomach or not.
After Old Abbott finished in the restroom, Ophelia personally drove her to the hospital, with the estate's butler, Lina, and Celia accompanying them.
On the way to the hospital, Celia called Jude, saying, "Mom is in trouble; she has diarrhea and bleeding. We are on our way to the hospital now."
Weak and leaning on Celia, Old Abbott was also supported by Lina to keep her steady.
They arrived at the hospital quickly.
Ophelia and the others rushed Old Abbott to the emergency room, where the attending physician immediately began examining her.
Blood tests, urine tests, and other examinations were conducted.
Ophelia stayed by Old Abbott's side throughout, and the emergency results came back quickly, within half an hour.
The doctor asked, "Has the patient eaten anything unusual?"
Recalling, Ophelia replied, "My grandmother had powdered milk and chicken soup."
She detailed what they had for lunch and fruits they consumed.
Ophelia inquired, "Doctor, what's happening? How could my grandmother be bleeding? Is it something serious?"
While Celia stayed with Old Abbott in the ward, Ophelia took the results to the doctor.
After examining Ophelia's belly, the doctor said, "Preliminary tests show that there are components of abortion pills in Old Abbott's blood. Has she come into contact with such medication?"
Seeing the abortion pill components while pregnant, Ophelia was naturally scrutinized by the doctor.
Upon hearing about the abortion pill components, Ophelia broke out in a cold sweat. "How is that possible? My grandmother is in her eighties; how could she have taken abortion pills? Could the test be wrong? We don't even have such things at home."
The doctor affirmed, "The test is accurate. Indeed, these components are present. If a regular person takes abortion pills, it can lead to bleeding, diarrhea, and vomiting. Given Old Abbott's age, the reaction to such medication would be even more severe, indicating its potency. If a pregnant woman were to take them, it would likely endanger the child."
Ophelia was incredulous. After leaving the doctor's office, she found Celia, asking, "Did grandmother Abbott eat anything unusual while at the estate?"
"She didn't eat anything unusual. She mentioned having a poor appetite in the morning, and we rushed to find you without eating anything." Celia asked, "What did the doctor say? Is it a stomach issue?"
Old Abbott was currently receiving intravenous fluids, lying weakly on the hospital bed. The medication had somewhat alleviated her condition.
Upon hearing Celia's words, Ophelia was even more anxious.
'If Old Abbott hadn't eaten anything unusual at the estate, then she must have consumed something containing abortion pills in Finnegan's house.'
'Who administered the abortion pills?'
'And in which type of food were they placed?' She was confused.
As Ophelia had also consumed almost everything Old Abbott ate, she was filled with shock and fear.
She touched her belly, but there was no reaction, indicating she hadn't ingested anything.
The only thing Old Abbott had eaten but she hadn't was the powdered milk brought by Magnus.
Everything else they ate was the same.
After this incident, Ophelia couldn't afford to be careless. She had to consider every possibility and not overlook anything.
Ophelia didn't respond to Celia but turned to Lina. "Lina, go back and bring the can of powdered milk Old Abbott had to the hospital, along with the chicken soup she had for lunch and the fruits she ate, for further examination."
"Alright, I'll go right away." Lina had worked with the Abbott Family for many years and was deeply concerned seeing Old Abbott in this state.
After Lina left, Ophelia stepped outside to call Finnegan, restraining her fear, and said, "Come to the hospital; something has happened. Someone wants to harm our baby."
