Chapter 581 Using Herself as a Bait to Lure Niamh
Ophelia opened the living room door with her fingerprint. She didn't turn on the lights or her phone's flashlight. Even when pushing the door open, she did it gently, trying not to make any noise.
After opening the door, Ophelia stood at the entrance for a while, quietly listening to the sounds inside the house. As her eyes acclimated to the dimness, she surveyed the room.
After confirming there was nothing unusual, she closed the door, took off her shoes, and tiptoed upstairs barefoot to reduce any noise.
Ophelia also hid her shoes in a place where they wouldn't be easily found. She went upstairs step by step, checking each room again.
She found the bathtub in the room where Niamh had previously stayed showed signs of recent use.
The sink was also not as tidy as it was during the afternoon inspection.
It seemed she had guessed correctly. Niamh was hiding here.
The most dangerous place was the safest place.
'Niamh must have been secretly living here all along,, living under the same roof as Emerson, causing some strange occurrences to scare Emerson. Now that Emerson had left, she lives here alone. The food in the fridge must have been bought by Niamh,' she thought.
After confirming that no one was in the house, Ophelia thought Niamh must have gone out temporarily and would return, so she stayed to wait.
Ophelia hid on the second floor. She made a phone call while waiting.
The night grew deeper.
Niamh had been wandering outside for a long time and it was time to go back. The longer she stayed outside, the more dangerous it became.
On her way back, Niamh saw a street vendor selling durians at the corner.
She really wanted to eat it.
Niamh used to eat imported fruits, including the best durians, but now, given her situation, have something to eat was a lucky thing for her.
"Can I have a durian?"
Niamh walked over and asked the vendor.
Durians were expensive, and the vendor was about to close up. He was happy to have a customer and picked the largest one to weigh. "105 dollars, how would you like to pay?"
Niamh had rummaged through the house earlier and uncovered a few hundred dollars in cash.. Used to splurging, she bought it without hesitation.
"Open it for me," Niamh ordered arrogantly.
The vendor took the money and opened the durian.
Niamh felt a strong urge to eat the durian as soon as she caught its scent,,but hesitated due to the risk of removing her mask in public., so she carried the durian and ate it while walking back.
As she ate, Niamh started to cry. As a member of the Parks family, she had never experienced such despair, consuming low-quality durian on the street.
It was completely unbefitting of her status as a wealthy heiress.
All of this was Ophelia's fault. The more she thought about it, the more Niamh hated Ophelia.
Niamh walked back to the Parks family villa. She wasn't far from the villa area and arrived shortly. She entered through the back door, swiping her access card to unlock it.. The security guard in the booth was almost asleep and paid no attention.
Niamh sneaked into the Parks family villa. The house was pitch dark, and she didn't dare turn on the lights, only daring to fumble for a flashlight in the shoe cabinet drawer.
However, just as Niamh turned on the flashlight, the whole house suddenly lit up. The sudden brightness startled Niamh, causing her to drop the flashlight.
"Who?"
Niamh looked around warily and then looked upstairs.
"I can't believe that with so little courage, you managed to stay hidden here for so long, Niamh." a voice called out from upstairs."
It was Ophelia's voice. Niamh recognized it immediately.
Ophelia walked down step by step from upstairs, and Niamh's face turned pale with fright. "Ophelia, how did you know I'm here?"
"I saw the food in the fridge this afternoon and knew someone must be in the house." Ophelia said as she approached Niamh, her gaze shifting to Niamh's swollen belly.
"Your belly is so big now. A pregnant woman, running around in the midnight, instead of staying home, is really irresponsible. Oh, I just remembered, you should be in prison, not here. You escaped, and the police are looking for you everywhere."
Ophelia said that on purpose, her tone and expression infuriating Niamh, but there was nothing she could do.
