Chapter 741 True and False, Real and Unreal

Lily had to wait for Finnegan to agree to the divorce. There was no turning back now.

Only by legally ending the marriage would Finnegan truly move on.

Gavin said over the phone, "Lily, why don't you come back? You can't stay at their place forever. Even if you owe Ophelia, you can't be a stepmom and a stand-in for the rest of your life."

"Gavin, don't say that," Lily replied coldly. "I'll come back tomorrow. Take care of Dad."

Gavin didn't push further.

Finnegan stopped at a pavilion, lost in memories of Ophelia.

Lily didn't follow him. He waited a long time before believing she had left.

Finnegan instructed, his voice calm and steady,, "Bring him to Verdant Villa. I'll be there in an hour."

"Yes, Mr. Abbott," Atticus replied.

Finnegan planned to meet Wayne.

Wayne had just left the hotel when he was stopped.

Wayne eyed the group warily. "What do you want? Who are you?"

Atticus said, "Mr. Abbott wants to see you. Let's go."

Hearing "Abbott," Wayne knew who it was.

He wanted to warn Lily but had no chance. His phone was taken immediately.

Wayne didn't resist getting into the car; resistance was a futile dream in his current state.

An hour later, Wayne sat nervously on the couch at Verdant Villa, bodyguards watching him. He stayed silent.

Atticus waited for Finnegan.

Hearing sounds from the yard, Atticus knew Finnegan had arrived. He stood up to greet him. "Mr. Abbott."

Finnegan walked in, his cold gaze on Wayne. Just one look made Wayne feel guilty and scared.

Even though Wayne had prepared, facing Finnegan was overwhelming. The man exuded an aura of power, an almost tangible pressure that felt impossible to withstand. Who could truly handle that kind of presence?

"Mr. Abbott," Wayne said, his voice trembling.

Finnegan looked down on Wayne.

'With such little courage, he dared to be with Ophelia?' Finnegan thought.

He sat down, but Wayne didn't dare to sit or look him in the eye.

Finnegan signaled Atticus, who led the bodyguards out and closed the door.

Alone, Finnegan didn't confront Wayne immediately. He lit a cigarette and watched it burn.

Wayne stood there, silent, thinking of how to respond.

Finnegan's presence alone made Wayne's heart race.

Finnegan flicked the ash and said coldly, "Mr. Perez, you know why I'm here."

Calling him "Mr. Perez" was just formality.

Wayne's palms were sweating. He stammered, "I don't know."

Finnegan's sharp gaze made Wayne tremble. He quickly changed his tune. "I know. Ophelia and I are just friends, Mr. Abbott. No affairs. It's a misunderstanding."

Wayne wasn't lying. Lily was Lily, not Finnegan's wife, so he wasn't stealing his woman.

Wayne's words made Finnegan's expression colder. "How did you two meet?"

"We've known each other a long time. We were classmates. We're both from Oceanview City. I don't know how she became your wife."

Wayne added, "I'm curious too. She didn't look like this before. How did she become so beautiful now? But she's Lily. Dylan said she's Lily."

These were words Lily had taught Wayne. She knew Finnegan would come for Wayne, so they needed a cover story.

To Wayne, she was Lily. That way, Finnegan wouldn't suspect. In Oceanview City, she was Lily, a girl who became Dylan's daughter out of gratitude, not Ophelia.

Finnegan frowned. "She is Ophelia, my wife, not Lily."

After boss's baby, she Escape
