Chapter 108 A Private Affair

Ophelia was well aware that when he said "take that chance with me," it didn't guarantee any results.

They were originally parallel lines that never intersected, but due to some twist of fate, they found themselves entangled.

Fear filled her mind when she saw a message from Atticus, worried that something terrible had happened to him.

It reminded her of that car accident long ago. Some things, once missed, are gone forever.

How many times in her life would she meet someone who would risk their life for her?

Had he not protected her back then, she might have died in the accident.

So what if there was no outcome?

At least she had once had the experience, and that left her with no regrets.

Remembering Magnus's encouragement, Ophelia followed her heart.

She had indeed developed feelings for him, which she had always denied to herself.

She answered Finnegan with her actions.

She initiated a kiss with him, clumsy because it was her first time being so forward, which filled Finnegan with joy.

He embraced her, deepening their kiss.

In that moment, he didn't even feel the pain from his injuries. He wanted more, acting on the most primal masculine impulse.

Amid their passionate confusion, Ophelia noticed his arm was bleeding and quickly pushed him away, "Your wound has reopened."

"It's okay," Finnegan said nonchalantly, even with a smile on his face.

"If the wound gets infected, it'll be a problem," she noted, examining the cuts on his back which also appeared to be opening.

She felt frustrated and helpless.

"I'll ask Lina for some gauze and re-dress the wound."

As Ophelia stood up, Finnegan pulled her back, his thumb gently caressing the back of her hand. "Ophelia, just stay here with me. We can have the doctor treat it tomorrow. Right now, I just want to be with you, undisturbed."

The normally cold Finnegan talked more in front of Ophelia, his tone softer.

He patted the bed, indicating for Ophelia to lie down.

Hesitating, she lay down beside him, amazed at the thought of being with Finnegan.

It was like Cinderella's dream.

She reached out and touched his forehead, his eyebrows, his nose. "I feel like I'm touching the tail of a tiger, it's surreal. The rumor is that anyone who ends up in your bed gets thrown out or blacklisted."

Before she changed her mind, Ophelia had seen Finnegan as a fearsome tiger, whose tail one could not touch without severe consequences. "So, you've been hiding and denying it was you that night?" Finnegan let out a light chuckle, grabbed her hand, and held it gently in his own. He closed his eyes, savoring the tranquility of the moment.

"Ophelia, I'm just a mortal man, with desires and emotions, but that doesn't mean I accept just any woman who comes my way," Finnegan said with a teasing tone. "Even tigers can afford to be picky."

Hearing this, Ophelia laughed, seeing his humorous side for the first time. Ophelia joked back, "Well, right now, you're a wounded tiger, so you'd better behave."

He opened his eyes, the longing in them impossible to hide. "Ophelia, count yourself lucky I'm injured right now, otherwise, you wouldn't be able to leave the bed tomorrow."

Ophelia's cheeks flushed a rosy hue. She had experienced his vigor firsthand. She didn't dare to boast, feeling embarrassed, she turned away silently, giving him her back. He, however, pulled her into his arms, his hand naturally resting against her chest...

Even though they had shared greater intimacy before, that was after drinking and their memories were fragmented, but now, sober and close like this for the first time, his hand ventured further, causing her entire body to tense and a warmth to spread through her.

His hot breath on her neck, he whispered, "Ophelia, don't you know this is men's favorite position?"

Realization hit Ophelia, and her face became even hotter. She felt like she was on a slippery slope, wanting to get off, but he held her close and said, "This is unbearable, don't move."

His words left much to the imagination. Ophelia's face turned even redder, "Finnegan, you turn out to be a pervert."

He laughed softly, "I was talking about the pain of my wound being unbearable, Ophelia. What did you think I meant?"

Ophelia was speechless, outwitted by Finnegan.

Finnegan's laughter at her reaction filled the room, "Alright, I'll stop teasing you, Ophelia, I really am in pain."

"You deserve it," Ophelia said with false sternness, yet she was careful not to touch his injuries.

They lay quietly on the bed, Ophelia looking out at the swaying shadows of the trees outside the window, feeling it all to be so surreal. One day, she lay in the same bed with Finnegan again.

Considering the stark differences in their backgrounds and the possibility that there might not be a future together, she was willing to indulge in a moment of madness with him, but she did not want to come out of it looking too disheveled.

She said, "Finnegan, I hope that our relationship... let's not go public with it."
