Chapter 437 The Embassy

Catherine's mind was clearly occupied.

'Is that thing I've been worrying about for over twenty years finally happening?' she thought.

While others were none the wiser, Catherine knew everything.

Her husband, Wilder, had a wife in New York over twenty years ago. Catherine was worried that Wilder might recall something, which would really bring her a lot of trouble.

Just as Celia suspected, when Wilder fell into the river that year, his head hit a stone, causing a severe head injury and resulting in amnesia.

His face was disfigured, and in order to treat Wilder, Catherine had him undergo plastic surgery.

For some reason, Wilder showed great interest in what Lance said. Before Lance could end the video call, Wilder asked, "Son, what does the person who looks like you look like? Is he also from France? That's quite a coincidence. Show me the photo."

Upon hearing this, Catherine's heart skipped a beat, holding her forehead. "Honey, I have a headache."

"Headache again? Go lie down in bed. I'll get you some medicine." Wilder's attention was diverted.

Lance sounded worried. "Mom, take care of yourself."

"I will. It's nothing. I'll rest for a while. Dear son, let's not chat for now." Catherine hung up the video call, afraid that Wilder would ask again later.

Catherine lay down on the bed to rest. When Wilder brought the medicine over, she took it and said, "I'm much better now. Don't worry."

Wilder looked affectionately at Catherine. "If you feel unwell again, I'll have the doctor come over."

In his fifties, Wilder possessed a natural royal, aristocratic temperament. With his tall, majestic figure and deep, tender eyes, he was once the dream lover of many girls in the aristocratic circle.

Age did not reduce his charm. Instead, it added to his masculine appeal.

Wilder and Catherine leaned their foreheads together. They represented a model couple in the royal family, seemingly very loving.

"I'm fine." Catherine held Wilder's face. "Honey, don't go to New York. Let Larry go to offer condolences."

"The list of envoys has been finalized, and it can't be changed." Wilder kissed Catherine's hand. "I'll be back as soon as possible."

"Then I'll go with you." Catherine was afraid that if Wilder returned to New York, he would remember everything.

Wilder was worried. "But your health..."

"It's okay, I can manage. I haven't seen our son for a long time, and I have never been to New York. I want to go take a look," Catherine asked gently, "Is that okay?"

Facing Catherine's gentle request, Wilder agreed. "Okay, you rest first. I'll have the embassy prepare."

"Okay." Catherine watched Wilder leave; memories from over twenty years ago resurfaced in her mind.

Catherine had lied just now. She had been to New York before.

Twenty-six years ago, she personally went to New York to bring back Wilder.

When Catherine found Wilder back then, he was unwilling to leave as he had married in New York and even had a daughter.

Their daughter went missing shortly after birth, and Wilder was anxious to find her. He planned to bring Dovie back to France, making her a princess.

While searching for his daughter, Wilder had a car accident. Catherine found him and took him back to France.

Thinking of her son's words just now, Catherine wondered if her husband's lost daughter had come back.

'Where was Dovie?' she thought.

Catherine was restless and called Lance to confirm. When she learned that the funeral they were attending was Dovie's, she was incredulous and frustrated.

Catherine was fearful.

'How would Wilder blame me if he finds out about this?' she thought.

Wilder and Dovie never had a chance to meet.

Catherine was afraid to go to New York on the one hand but felt guilty on the other hand. She wanted Wilder to go and see Dovie off.

For over twenty years, Wilder had never recalled those years in New York. Thus, this lie had never been exposed.

After handling Dovie's funeral, Ophelia stayed at home almost all day.

When Finnegan returned, she was willing to go for a walk in the yard with him.

Every day, Addison would call to report on the situation at the Mexican restaurant. The business was booming, with reservations booked until the end of the month.

There were three performances at the restaurant every day, with all featuring dancers with skills recommended by Lynn, who also choreographed a few dances to promote the restaurant.

These arrangements helped Ophelia make a fortune.

On this day, Ophelia finally went out, accompanied by Tate, to the Mexican restaurant.

Ophelia's belly was getting bigger, making it inconvenient to move around. She would get tired after walking only for a short while.

Just after finishing a call with Finnegan, Ophelia saw a message pop up on her phone.

The embassy from France had arrived in New York with a photo showing a local leader welcoming Prince Wilder as he got off the plane.

In the photo, the leader and Prince Wilder were smiling and shaking hands. Ophelia immediately recognized Wilder in the photo.
