Chapter 767 The Final Farewell

Lily was worried and felt the urge to find Finnegan.

She called Susan and learned that Finnegan was hospitalized in the nearby hospital.

With Gavin and Dylan out, Lily decided to sneak out.

Just as she stepped out, Gavin returned. "Lily, where are you going?" he asked.

"I..." Lily hesitated.

Gavin guessed. "You're going to see Finnegan? No way. You just had surgery. He knows now that you're not Ophelia. What if he gets mad and hurts you?"

Lily replied, "I can't hide. Finnegan's sick because of me. I owe it to Ophelia."

"You don't owe anyone. Ophelia couldn't be saved. If you hadn't used her heart, someone else would have," Gavin said. "I won't let you go."

"Gavin, how can you be so heartless?" Lily snapped. "Ophelia didn't have to save me. I used her heart; I owe her."

"Lily!"

"Move." Lily pushed past Gavin. She had to go.

Gavin said, "Do you like Finnegan? He won't like you. Be grateful if he doesn't hate you."

Gavin's words stung.

Lily knew Finnegan hated her.

She felt like an accomplice in Ophelia's death.

Lily said nothing and left, taking a cab to the hospital.

Still in her hospital gown, bandages on her head, her wound throbbed, but she didn't care. Her mind was on Finnegan. She was anxious, though she was unsure if it was her anxiety or Ophelia's.

Lily knew she had to see Finnegan. Maybe for the last time. Whether as Lily or Ophelia, she needed to explain.

At the hospital, Celia was in the hallway, wiping her tears. Caspian was talking to the doctor.

Finnegan lay alone in the ward, looking pale.

When Celia saw Lily, she momentarily thought it was Ophelia. "Ophelia," she called, then corrected herself. "Lily."

"I'm sorry for deceiving you," Lily apologized. "How is Finnegan?"

"He's being treated, still has a fever. He couldn't handle this," Celia said. "Now that he knows Ophelia is truly gone, he can't hold on."

The doctor found liver damage in Finnegan.

Extreme heartbreak could damage internal organs.

Lily asked, "Can I see him?"

"Go ahead," Celia said. "Maybe he'll listen to you."

But Celia was wrong. When Lily entered, Finnegan's eyes showed disgust and hatred, not tenderness.

To Finnegan, no one but Ophelia had the right to that face.

"Get out," Finnegan said, eyes bloodshot with anger.

Lily was shocked by his intense hatred.

She hadn't expected him to hate her so much.

Lily gathered her courage and approached the bed. "Mr. Abbott, I'm deeply sorry for deceiving you. I need to explain how I met Ophelia. When I saved her, she was near death. She refused to contact her family, probably because she didn't want you to see her like that.

"I know this hurts, but you need to know what Ophelia was like in her final moments, what she went through, what happened, and what she said."

Finnegan listened in agony. Every word Lily said felt like a nail piercing his body, leaving him riddled with wounds.
