Chapter 573 Showing Weakness
Finnegan nodded. "It's him."
"Why?" Ophelia didn't understand. "Is this the reason Lloyd came back? Does he still resent Susan?"
'Leaving home for thirty years and suddenly coming back is just to tear the Abbott family apart. This is revenge,' Ophelia pondered.
"He will eventually go after Ceila and Jude. Just getting them to divorce is already a good outcome," Finnegan said. "We've been in the open for so long. If we don't do this, it's hard to take the lead."
"You brought Warmie to the hospital to protect her, didn't you?" Ophelia was terrified. "What kind of background does Lloyd have that even you can only defend against him?"
Finnegan hesitated for a moment and said, "He is the founder of Moonlight Gate, Nine."
"What? It's really him?" Ophelia was shocked. Even though she had suspected it before, she had dismissed her doubts. She didn't expect it to be true. "Then isn't Susan in great danger?"
"He won't harm Susan," Finnegan said gravely. "Ophelia, do you know the best way to get revenge on someone?"
When Finnegan spoke, he was looking at Ophelia.
Ophelia said, "It's to destroy everything that person cares about..."
Before she finished speaking, Ophelia noticed something wrong with Finnegan's eyes.
"Finnegan, your eyes?" Ophelia shouted.
"They had recovered when the bandages came off." Finnegan admitted now because he didn't want any secrets between them as well as to ease Ophelia's worries.
"So you did it on purpose? You were acting for Lloyd?" Ophelia recalled the situation at the time and what James had said. "When did you and James collude?"
"Before the surgery," Finnegan said, playfully teasing the sleeping Warmie beside him. "Moonlight Gate has existed for so many years with numerous assassins. Lloyd is not an ordinary person. I had no choice but to pretend to be blind to lower his guard."
Seeing that his eyes had recovered, Ophelia was overjoyed. "You're recovered. Your eyesight is really recovered."
She excitedly cupped his face and gazed into Finnegan's eyes.
Finnegan smiled. "I can see now. Sorry to make you worry."
"That's wonderful." Ophelia was ecstatic. Nothing could make her happier. Suddenly, she remembered something and said, "What about Niamh...?"
"She was probably rescued by Moonlight Gate, which adds another crime to their list," Finnegan said, holding her hand. "Ophelia, we must wait now for Lloyd to make a mistake so the police can take down Moonlight Gate in one fell swoop."
If they exposed themselves now, without evidence of Lloyd's crimes, everything would be for nothing.
If Lloyd went to extremes, with so many assassins, Finnegan couldn't defend against them all. So he had to show weakness and wait for the right moment.
"Now that your parents are in such a mess and you're blind, who will Lloyd target next? Me or Warmie?" Ophelia asked.
This was also Finnegan's concern.
"I've already thought of a plan for you. Pretend to be sick," Finnegan said. "Pretend to have a terminal illness, but this must be after Ceila and Jude's divorce. Otherwise, it won't be easy for them to divorce."
"What about Warmie?" Ophelia was worried.
Finnegan looked at Warmie, who was playing by herself. He had thought of many ways, but none were foolproof.
He didn't want to send Warmie to Country F.
Only by keeping her under his watch did Finnegan feel at ease.
Finnegan said, "I'll watch over her. I'm blind now and don't need to go out. Warmie just needs to stay by my side."
With Warmie by Finnegan's side, Ophelia also felt at ease.
This time, they were facing Lloyd, the leader of an assassin group, a ruthless killer. Any slight mistake could mean death.
Ophelia nestled in Finnegan's arms. "I wonder how Tate is doing."
Finnegan suspected that Tate was in grave danger but didn't expose what he thought to worry Ophelia.
He also hoped that Tate was okay as she might become a crucial person.
