Chapter 629 So He Likes Her
Every affection began with the uniqueness of the other person.
Tate was different for Caspian.
Even though Tate was so capable, in Caspian's eyes, she was still a girl who needed protection.
Ophelia said, "You won't be able to see her at the police station for now. There's no rush to hire a lawyer. I'm just informing you."
Ophelia would also do her best to get Tate out as soon as possible, but now was not the time. Only when Moonlight Gate was dismantled would it be the best time for Tate to come out.
For now, Tate was safest inside.
Ophelia and Finnegan only speculated about the relationship between Tate and Raymond. Since their relationship wasn't public, she naturally wouldn't say much.
With Raymond caring about Tate, Ophelia wasn't worried. She thought Tate would be safe inside for now and wouldn't suffer.
After hanging up the phone, Caspian sat in his office, feeling listless and down.
Ophelia's words kept echoing in his mind, and he gradually realized that he might have unknowingly fallen for Tate.
Caspian found it strange himself. 'How could I like Tate? She's so aloof,' he thought.
Caspian chuckled, but thinking about Tate possibly being in prison for a long time made him inexplicably agitated.
Thinking of this, Caspian stood up, grabbed the car keys on the table, and walked out.
"Caspian, where are you going?" Karen happened to come over.
Because Caspian had previously asked Karen to gather information from Raymond, Karen really thought Caspian liked her and came up to see him every day.
"It's none of your business," Caspian said, not in the mood to deal with Karen.
"Caspian, didn't you ask me to find out about the Moonlight Gate criminals from Raymond? I did. Let's have dinner tonight and talk about it." Karen hadn't found out anything; she was just looking for an excuse to spend time with Caspian.
Caspian already knew about Tate's situation and said, "No need. I have things to do. You go ahead with your work. I don't have time."
"What do you have to do? I'll go with you," Karen said playfully, trying to take Caspian's arm.
Caspian pulled his hand away. "Karen, what are you doing? I said I have things to do. I don't have time to waste with you. Go play somewhere else."
Caspian's tone was particularly harsh.
Some company employees passed by and looked at them. Karen felt embarrassed and couldn't keep her composure. "Caspian, what's wrong with you? Why are you so angry?"
"Karen, let me make it clear again. I will never like you. Don't waste your time on me. I appreciate your help before. I've fulfilled my promise and given you the appropriate reward. We're even."
Caspian distanced himself from her. "Don't come here again."
Caspian was irritable and spoke harshly. After saying this, he walked away quickly.
Karen felt humiliated and extremely embarrassed, her eyes reddening with anger, but she still didn't think of giving up.
She liked Caspian and was determined to pursue him, no matter how harsh he was to her.
After thinking it through, Karen wiped her tears and chased after him, but Caspian was already gone.
Night fell.
Raymond worked late into the night before coming home. His superiors had approved his request, and he could take people to Rivonia to arrest Lloyd tomorrow.
After Ophelia called Wilder, Raymond's application was quickly approved.
It seemed having connections did make things more efficient.
Raymond got home at one in the morning. He opened the door and looked at the empty house, thinking about the days Tate lived there, feeling even more guilty.
He had vowed to protect Tate, but he had failed.
He had spent over a decade finding Tate, only to watch her go to prison.
Raymond, consumed by worry, tossed his coat onto the sofa and sank wearily into a seat.
At that moment, the door to the guest room creaked open, lifting Raymond's spirits. "Tay."
