Chapter 728 The Broken Finnegan

Tate had just gotten out of prison, so she was pretty out of the loop. Last time she was in, she didn't visit Ophelia either.

Hearing Caspian's complaints, she asked, "Do they do this a lot?"

"Yeah, Finnegan's been hitting the bottle pretty hard these days. I think Ophelia's cheating on him," Caspian said. "But who knows? He loves her so much."

The fact that they were fighting was surprising enough for Tate, but the idea of infidelity really shocked her.

"Stay with Finnegan tonight. We'll talk when he wakes up," Tate said. "I'm heading out."

Caspian hesitated. "Tate, we just met a few hours ago."

"We've got plenty of time later," Tate said. "I'm leaving now."

Caspian couldn't just leave Finnegan alone. Between Finnegan and his girlfriend, he chose Finnegan this time.

After Tate left, Caspian went to the bathroom to freshen up. Finnegan was too drunk to wake up anytime soon and would probably sleep until the next day.

Finnegan woke up and, seeing the room's furnishings, realized he was in a hotel.

He sat up and knocked on his throbbing head, feeling awful from the hangover.

"Finnegan, you're awake." Caspian came over from the next room. It was a suite with two rooms. "Want some water?"

"What are you doing here?" Finnegan was surprised.

"If I hadn't come, you would have jumped into the river last night," Caspian said, pouring a glass of water for Finnegan. "Did you have another spat with Ophelia? How much did you knock back to end up like this?"

Finnegan took a sip of water and stayed silent.

Caspian sighed. "Finnegan, maybe you should see a therapist. If you keep this up, you'll end up with depression."

Caspian really hoped the old Finnegan would come back. The current Finnegan seemed broken, unable to move past the pain of losing his wife.

Finnegan spoke with difficulty, "Ophelia wants a divorce."

Caspian was shocked and then realized why Finnegan got drunk.

"What's going on with Ophelia? Why does she want a divorce? You're loaded. It just doesn't add up. There's no way she actually wants a divorce," Caspian said incredulously. "Did she cheat on you?"

An unintentional guess turned out to be right.

Finnegan gave a bitter smile. "I'm also puzzled."

He really wanted to see the man and find out what charm he had.

Realizing he had this thought, Finnegan felt he was going crazy.

He was going to see his rival?

Thinking about it, Finnegan gave another bitter smile.

"Finnegan, don't be like this," Caspian said. "How about going out to clear your mind? Or have a good talk? There's always a reason. If there's a problem, we solve it."

Finnegan stood up, patted Caspian on the shoulder, and said in a deep voice, "Don't worry about me. You take care of your own business. Tate is out of prison, cherish her."

With that, Finnegan grabbed his coat and walked out.

"Finnegan." Caspian stood there, wanting to help but knowing that matters of the heart were beyond his ability to assist.

Finnegan walked out in a daze, without driving or calling an assistant or driver, just wandering aimlessly.

He arrived at a restaurant Ophelia used to like, stood at the entrance for a while, then continued walking to the place where Ophelia used to run a Mexican restaurant.

The Mexican restaurant had changed hands. Ophelia had closed it a while ago, and now it had changed owners several times.

Finnegan walked in, his mind filled with memories of Ophelia.

He had given Ophelia that restaurant to fulfill her dream.

"Sir, how many? This way, please." a waiter came to serve him.

Seeing an empty seat by the window, Finnegan walked over and sat down.

It was not yet eleven, and the restaurant was almost empty.

Finnegan ordered two dishes and a bottle of wine.

His phone rang; it was Celia calling.

Celia, worried, had gone to Finnegan's house early in the morning to find him. Only Warmie was there; Finnegan and Lily were not.

Finnegan answered the phone wearily, "Mom, what's up?"

"Where are you? The housekeeper said you didn't come home last night. Ophelia left early this morning too. You should do something. She's definitely gone to see her lover," Celia said, getting more and more angry.

After boss's baby, she Escape
