Chapter 15 A Gift to Finnegan's Girlfriend

On her way back to the company, Ophelia sat at the very edge of the car, trying to keep a low profile. Since Finnegan didn't bring that topic up and she was so drunk, she pretended not to know what had happened last night.

As they arrived, Finnegan went straight to his office for an important briefing with Atticus, giving Ophelia the chance to slip back to the secretarial department.

"Ophelia, did you change your hairstyle?" Linda was surprised. "It looks really good on you. Don't have bangs anymore. You look much better this way."

"Thank you," Ophelia replied, somewhat embarrassed.

Today, Ophelia didn't go to the CEO's office, and Finnegan also didn't look for her. So, she stayed in the secretarial department. She didn't need to go unless Finnegan asked for her, as Atticus was the most capable man for the boss.

Today was Valentine's Day. Ophelia went to the mall to buy a gift, then, she brought it to Orchid Garden on behalf of Finnegan.

At Orchid Garden, Seraphina was living a life of luxury, enjoying fancy foods, sleeping in beds worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and also enjoying the beautiful view of a garden of several thousand square feet. The servants at Orchid Garden treated Seraphina with great respect, satisfying her vanity as she began to flaunt her status as the lady of the house.

Seraphina was like a canary in a golden cage. With a black card from Finnegan, she could buy whatever she wanted.

Having just returned from a shopping spree, today, she spent hundreds of thousands of dollars again. The thrill of buying was intoxicating to her. She used to live frugally to save up for an LV dress, yet she still couldn't afford it. But now she could buy as many as she wished.

Exhausted from shopping, Seraphina came home to take a bath. Then, Lina knocked on the door.

"Ms. Kingsley, Mr. Abbott has bought you a gift. It's downstairs."

At the mention of a gift from Finnegan, Seraphina's heart bloomed with joy. "OK, I'll be right there."

Downstairs, Ophelia was waiting in the living room, curious to see what Finnegan's girlfriend looked like. She must be a gentle and beautiful woman, so Finnegan would cherish her so much.

Lina brought Ophelia a cup of tea. "Ms. Sinclair, please sit down and have some tea."

"Thank you," Ophelia said politely.

After waiting for about fifteen minutes, Seraphina still didn't come down. Then, Ophelia received a call from the company. It was something urgent, so she had to return.

Standing up, she said to Lina, "I have to get back to the office now. Please give this gift to Ms. Kingsley. It's from Mr. Abbott, for Valentine's Day."

"Yes, Ms. Sinclair, I'll give it to her," Lina replied.

Just as Ophelia left, Seraphina made her grand entrance. Thinking Finnegan had returned, she had taken her time dressing up in her newly bought dress.

With no sign of Finnegan, Seraphina only saw the shopping bag on the table.

"Where is Mr. Abbott?" she asked Lina.

"It wasn't Mr. Abbott. The gift was sent by someone on his behalf," Lina explained with a smile. "It's a gift for Valentine's Day. Ms. Kingsley, Mr. Abbott cares about you so much."

At first, she was disappointed that Finnegan didn't come, but Lina's words made Seraphina feel much better.

She eagerly opened the shopping bag and saw a purse with a price tag of 80 thousand dollars. Greed and vanity were all written on her face.

A Valentine's gift. This proved that Finnegan really liked her.

Seraphina decided that the next time Finnegan came back, she would make sure to win him over.

"When does Mr. Abbott usually come back?" she asked Lina.

Seraphina only had Finnegan's assistant's phone number.

"Mr. Abbott is a busy man. So, it depends. Sometimes he came back every day, sometimes not. Ms. Kingsley, you could call and ask him," Lina suggested.

Not wanting Lina to know she didn't have Finnegan's phone number, Seraphina pretended to be considerate. "Mr. Abbott is busy, so I won't bother him."

After leaving Orchid Garden, Ophelia texted Finnegan, "I bought an LV bag, limited edition. I've already dropped it at Orchid Garden for Ms. Kingsley."

Ophelia didn't know the name of her boss' girlfriend, nor would she pry into his private life.

A few minutes later, Finnegan replied, "OK." And that was all.

Ophelia returned to her office and worked until six in the evening, finally able to leave a bit earlier than usual.

Perhaps the incident from the previous night had a certain impact on Finnegan, as he went out for business today with Linda and Atticus without Ophelia.

As she left the company, Ophelia called Magnus. "I'm off work. Let's meet at our frequented restaurant. Call Seraphina, too. I missed out last night, so let's make up for it today..."

"Sure thing!"

Ophelia didn't realize that Finnegan had noticed her just as she left the company.
