Chapter 546 Lloyd is Back
Ophelia saw Wilder off and stayed alone in the hospital room with Finnegan.
To keep Finnegan from feeling lonely or lost and to let him know she was always by his side, Ophelia held his hand and told him jokes and funny stories about Warmie.
She wanted to cheer him up.
As her husband, Finnegan could easily understand Ophelia's intentions.
Finnegan gently squeezed Ophelia's hand. "Ophelia, you don't need to worry about me. I'm really fine. So what if I can't see? As long as I have you by my side and I'm alive, I feel incredibly lucky. At first, I couldn't accept it, but over the past few days, I've come to realize that nothing is better than being alive."
When he jumped from the car, he was prepared to die.
Waking up and being able to see Ophelia again, even if he couldn't see Warmie grow up, he could still be there for her. He already considered himself lucky.
Ophelia reached out to touch Finnegan's eyes. She had always thought his eyes were beautiful, deep like the stars. "Finnegan."
She placed his hand on her face, inhaling the familiar scent from the back of his hand, feeling at peace.
"Ophelia, no matter what response we get from Moonlight Gate, don't investigate further," Finnegan urged. "Nothing is more important than your safety."
Finnegan was also worried that Ophelia might face retaliation.
With his blindness, many things were inconvenient, and he couldn't protect Ophelia.
Ophelia agreed, "Okay, I know what to do."
She valued her life, too. She had Warmie and her husband, so safety was naturally her top priority.
Soon, the ophthalmology experts came up with a plan. Finnegan needed eye surgery, but the success rate was low, and they needed to find a suitable cornea.
As long as there was hope, Ophelia would try.
Meanwhile, at the Abbott family estate.
Finnegan was back, and Susan could finally relax. She went to her room to take a nap.
Celia went to keep Warmie company, and Jude was about to check on Oscar in the backyard when John suddenly approached and said, "Sir, someone is here to see you."
Jude asked, "Who is it?"
John replied, "The person claims to be named Nguyen and wants to see Susan."
"Nguyen?" Jude repeated. "Does my mom know anyone named Nguyen? I'll go take a look."
Jude went to check it out himself. At the door, a black luxury car was parked. As he walked out, a man got out of the driver's seat, walked to the back seat, and respectfully opened the car door.
Anthony said, "Master, please get out."
Lloyd stepped out of the car. Jude craned his neck to see.
He saw a middle-aged man with a buzz cut and a mole on his chin. Jude found him somewhat familiar but couldn't immediately recall where he had seen him before.
"Who are you?" Jude looked the man up and down, feeling that the mole was very familiar.
Lloyd smiled kindly, "Brother Jude, don't you recognize me? I'm Lloyd."
"Lloyd?" Jude was shocked. "You're Lloyd, Lloyd Abbott? Is it really you?"
Lloyd had been away from home for thirty years. His appearance had changed so much that Jude couldn't recognize him, but the mole was unique to Lloyd, and he could see a bit of the old Lloyd in it.
Jude was both shocked and excited. "Lloyd, it's really you. I haven't seen you in thirty years. You're still alive. I thought you had died in an accident. You haven't come back all these years."
Jude was so excited that he spoke without thinking.
Anthony, hearing Jude curse Lloyd as dead, exuded a murderous aura.
Lloyd secretly signaled Anthony to restrain himself, then smiled and said to Jude, "Brother Jude, it's me. I'm back."
"Come inside." Jude was overjoyed, laughing as he pulled Lloyd into the house. "By the way, John just said it was Mr. Nguyen. Who is Mr. Nguyen?"
Lloyd said, "Because of business reasons, I changed my last name to Nguyen. Now, I'm called Lloyd Nguyen."
Hearing this, Jude's expression changed. "Lloyd, why did you change your last name? Mother is still alive. Why change your last name to Nguyen? It's so out of place."
Jude took on Finnegan's demeanor and scolded Lloyd.
After thirty years, Jude was still the only one who dared to scold Lloyd like this.
Lloyd's face showed displeasure, and Anthony glared menacingly at Jude.
Jude asked, "Lloyd, who is this? Why is he glaring? He has no manners, not even greeting his elders."
Anyone else who spoke to Lloyd and Anthony like this wouldn't live to see the next day. Jude was an exception.
