Chapter 556 Protecting Warmie
Lloyd carefully placed the letters back in the box, treasuring them as relics left by his parents.
Afterward, he ventured outside, unable to remain still since Finnegan had already settled in.
As he was about to leave, Lloyd bumped into Jude. Taking the chance, Lloyd mentioned, "Jude, didn't you mention that Finnegan was injured and in the hospital? I've been back for some time and haven't visited him yet. I'd like to go see Finnegan."
"Sure thing," Jude replied. "I was actually heading to the hospital myself. Ophelia is there looking after him on her own. She must be worn out."
Despite hiring a nurse, Ophelia continued to stay overnight. Aware of Finnegan's aversion to closeness, especially from women due to past trauma inflicted by Niamh, she dedicated most of her time at the hospital.
Lloyd and Jude arrived at the hospital together. Finnegan had recently returned, and to avoid any confrontation, Caspian had already departed.
Finnegan was about to take a nap when he heard footsteps and turned his gaze toward the sound.
"Finnegan, it's me," Jude said with a smile as he walked in. "isn't Ophelia here?"
"Ophelia went to the company," Finnegan said, recognizing the footsteps of two individuals. He inquired, "Dad, who did you come with?"
"Finnegan, you've got keen ears," Jude chuckled. "Lloyd came along with me. He heard about your injury and hospitalization and wanted to visit you. When Lloyd left home, you were just a toddler, around two years old, so you may not recall him.""
Hearing that Lloyd had come, Finnegan felt even more certain.
He had just visited Lloyd's residence in City N, and now Lloyd was here. It was really fast.
Finnegan greeted him calmly, "Lloyd."
""Thirty years have flown by, and Finnegan has grown so quickly," Lloyd remarked with a sigh. "What happened to your eyes?""
Lloyd feigned ignorance.
Jude said, "Injured in a car accident, waiting for surgery."
"I see," Lloyd said regretfully. "Finnegan is so talented. I heard he was raised by Mom. She must be very upset about his injury."
Jude sighed, "Absolutely. Mom can't eat or sleep well. She tears up whenever Finnegan is mentioned. But with modern medicine, Finnegan's eyes will surely recover."
""Rest assured, he will surely recover," Lloyd assured, moving closer and placing a comforting hand on Finnegan's shoulder. "Take care of yourself. You are still young, so don't worry. By the way, Warmie is incredibly adorable. Her smile resembles yours from when you were little."
Upon hearing this, a cold glint flashed in Finnegan's eyes.
Finnegan understood Lloyd's implied threat about Warmie.
He discreetly clenched his hand, then gradually relaxed, a faint smile appearing on his lips. "Lloyd, I've frequently heard my father speak of you. It's been thirty years, and you've finally returned. Have you visited Mason in prison? He mentioned you to me before he was incarcerated."
Finnegan was also using Mason to warn Lloyd. If he dared to harm the Abbott family, he would deal with him just like he did with Mason.
Jude didn't understand the underlying meaning between the two and was curious why Mason was brought up out of nowhere.
Moreover, he had never mentioned Lloyd to Finnegan.
Lloyd lightly patted Finnegan's shoulder and said with a smile, "I haven't had the chance to visit yet. Take good care of yourself."
"Thanks for your concern," Finnegan said smoothly. "I will get better soon."
"That's good," Lloyd said casually.
After staying in the ward for a while, Lloyd left.
From the brief conversation, Lloyd could tell that Finnegan was suspicious of his identity.
'He's an exceptional person, but unfortunately, an Abbott,' Lloyd thought.
Ophelia arrived at the hospital after completing her work at the company, finding that Lloyd and the others had already departed. Upon noticing the gifts on the table, she inquired of Finnegan, "Sweetheart, who visited today?"
"Lloyd," Finnegan said. "Ophelia, I miss Warmie. Can you bring her over?"
"Now?" Ophelia thought it was getting dark and said, "How about I bring her tomorrow?"
"Call Mom and ask her to bring Warmie over," Finnegan said gently. "I haven't seen Warmie for a long time and want to hold her."
Ophelia didn't think much of it and smiled, "Okay, I'll call Mom then."
