Chapter 348 Full Confession
Seraphina was very hungry. She reached out to take the bowl but suddenly thought of something and quickly withdrew her hand in fear.
"I'm not hungry; I won't eat," she said.
Seeing that Seraphina wasn't falling for it, the correctional officer became furious and threw the bowl on the ground. "You're forcing me to kill you."
As he spoke, the correctional officer pulled out a knife from his pocket.
The shiny knife reflected the light from outside the window, casting a glint right onto Seraphina's face.
A look of terror flashed across Seraphina's face. She got up to run, but she had nowhere to go in the cramped cell.
Seraphina shouted, "Help! Is anyone there? Help! Someone wants to kill me."
No matter how much Seraphina shouted, no one came.
The prison guard sneered. "Don't waste your energy. Even if you scream your lungs out, it won't help. I wanted to let you die with some dignity, without too much pain, but you refused to eat."
The correctional officer stepped closer to Seraphina, who clutched the iron bars in terror. "Did Niamh send you? I didn't betray her. Why won't she let me go?"
"Niamh said only dead people keep secrets." The correctional officer raised the knife, ready to stab Seraphina.
"Help!"
Seraphina closed her eyes and screamed in fear.
At the critical moment, Landon burst in. He kicked the correctional officer away, seized the knife, and saved Seraphina, knocking the correctional officer unconscious.
Everything happened quickly. Seraphina was so scared that her legs went weak. She crouched on the ground, staring blankly.
Soon, the unconscious correctional officer was carried out by others.
Landon picked up the fallen knife and looked down at Seraphina. "It seems your case is not simple. Someone wants you to die and has already bribed the correctional officer to kill you. Seraphina, tell me, do you have any accomplices? If you don't speak, you'll miss a chance to reduce your sentence."
Seraphina's eyes were vacant, still in shock from the earlier terror.
At that moment, a small mouse appeared from somewhere. It ate the spilled food on the ground, immediately foamed at the mouth, bled from the eyes, and died.
This scared Seraphina even more. Her eyes widened in horror. If she had eaten the food, she would have died too.
Landon seized the moment. "It seems you still don't want to talk. There's nothing we can do. We don't use torture to extract confessions. There's still some time before the trial. I hope you can survive until then."
As he spoke, Landon was about to leave.
Seraphina quickly called out to him. "I'll tell you everything."
Seraphina was terrified, as Niamh had already managed to bribe the correctional officer. If Niamh wanted her dead, then she would give her up to protect herself.
Landon smiled with satisfaction and took Seraphina to the interrogation room for a late-night questioning.
Ten minutes later, Landon personally recorded the confession. "Seraphina, where did you get the abortion pills you put in the baby formula can?"
Seraphina confessed everything this time. "Niamh gave them to me."
"How did you two meet?" Landon asked sternly. "She's an heiress, and you're an ordinary person working in an electronics factory. How did you two meet? Why did Niamh give you abortion pills? Who were you trying to harm? Explain everything clearly."
Seraphina said, "I met Niamh on the opening day of Ophelia's Sakura restaurant. She approached me because we both hated Ophelia, so we hit it off immediately. We wanted to make Ophelia miscarry. If Ophelia lost the baby, Finnegan would leave her."
Landon wrote the statement while asking, "How can you prove that Niamh gave you the pills?"
"I have a recording," Seraphina said excitedly. "I didn't trust Niamh, so I recorded her when she gave me the pills. The recording is on my phone. You can retrieve it."
