Could it be that Ophelia had truly been wronged and abandoned by a man?
Finnegan furrowed his brows in thought. If Magnus wasn't Ophelia's fiancé, then who was the father of the child in Ophelia's womb?
"Finnegan, you should drink less," Caspian advised. "Or should I call Miss Sinclair?"
Finnegan shot him a cold glance and put down his glass forcefully. "Why are you meddling?"
With that, he headed for the restroom.
Caspian didn't follow him. Instead, he left the private room and instructed Atticus, "Keep an eye on Finnegan. I'll make a call."
He saw this as an opportunity to call Ophelia.
For Finnegan's happiness, he was truly ready to give it his all. Without him, Finnegan and Miss Sinclair would part ways.
Caspian dialed twice before finally being connected.
Ophelia was sleepy, "Hello, who is this?"
"Miss Sinclair, it's me, Caspian," Caspian said, trying to sound casual. "Come to Star Moon Club quickly. Finnegan is here, drowning his sorrows. He's upset because of you. He's in love and trying to drink away his sorrows."
Once she heard this, Ophelia woke up a bit. "Mr. Hawthorne, what did you say Mr. Abbott is doing?"
"Drowning his sorrows," Caspian replied. "All because of your pregnancy. Miss Sinclair, from what I know about Finnegan, he's serious this time. As soon as he heard about your pregnancy, he was heartbroken. It's been several years since Finnegan last drowned his sorrows over a broken heart."
"Last drowned his sorrows?" Ophelia caught the key point, implying that Finnegan had other girlfriends besides the one from Orchid Garden.
"Miss Sinclair, that's not important; that's all in the past," Caspian said. "Star Moon Club, Room 7777, hurry up. If there's any misunderstanding, just clear it up."
"Mr. Hawthorne, I think you've misunderstood. There's no misunderstanding between Mr. Abbott and me," Ophelia sat up, leaning against the headboard as she held her phone. “He is merely my former boss, and I, his former subordinate. The word 'heartbreak' is inappropriate."
Apart from their work relationship, she really had no other relationship with Finnegan.
"Miss Sinclair, are you coming? It’s a simple yes or no." Caspian was anxious for both of them. "Why are you two so awkward? If you don't believe me, come and see for yourself. I, Caspian, never lie."
Ophelia was speechless.
Caspian added, "Miss Sinclair, hurry up. I'm going to join Finnegan for a drink."
With that, he went back to the private room. As a friend, this was all he could do.
Caspian's call left Ophelia unable to calm down for a long time, let alone sleep.
Ophelia gripped her phone tightly.
Not long after, Caspian sent a video of Finnegan drinking. From the angle of the video, he must have filmed him in secret.
Finnegan looked lonely and desolate, with a hint of melancholy.
He really looked like a man drowning his sorrows due to heartbreak.
Ophelia was in a turmoil.
After thinking about the kiss in City B and about the car accident when Finnegan risked his life to save her, she finally got out of bed, changed her clothes, and went out.
