Chapter 693 Home Again
Finnegan had braced himself for Ophelia, figuring there had to be some deep, unspoken reason.
But hearing her words and seeing the unfamiliar look in her eyes, he couldn't hold back his emotions.
"I'm Finnegan, your husband, Ophelia. It's okay if you don't remember. It'll come back to you," he said, trying to comfort her despite his sorrow. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."
Lily was about to say something, but Finnegan hugged her again, expressing his longing. "Ophelia, I missed you so much."
In front of Ophelia, Finnegan was never the high-powered CEO, just her husband.
Lily hesitated but stayed silent. After Finnegan calmed down, she finally spoke, "Mr. Abbott, you really love your wife. I'm sure she loves you too."
"You are my wife," Finnegan said, holding her shoulders. "Ophelia, come home with me. The security said you came home. I've been looking for you. I thought I'd never see you again. I even doubted if I was hallucinating, but you're real. You are my wife, and you're back."
When everyone else doubted, Finnegan also wavered, but now he was sure Ophelia had returned.
Lily looked at Finnegan, feeling a pang in her heart.
"Ophelia, let's go home. It's cold out here," Finnegan said happily, taking her cold hand.
He warmed her hand with his own. "Now you'll feel better."
It was the first time Lily felt a man's care, and a strange feeling crossed her heart.
Finnegan brought Lily home, and when they appeared at the Abbott family mansion, everyone was shocked.
It was a living person standing in front of them.
Susan, leaning on her cane, looked at Lily with tears in her eyes. "Ophelia, it's really you. You're still alive."
Celia was also very excited. "Ophelia, since you're okay, why didn't you come back? Where have you been all these months?"
Jude was curious too. "Yeah, Ophelia, why didn't you come home?"
Seeing everyone questioning, Finnegan said, "Ophelia is a bit tired. Let her rest in her room first."
He couldn't bear to see his beloved awkwardness.
Though others were full of questions, they sensibly refrained from asking.
Ophelia's return made Finnegan very happy. He didn't care about anything else as long as she was back.
He took Lily upstairs to rest, telling her not to be too nervous, and then personally went downstairs to wash some fruit for her.
The family just watched as Finnegan busied himself for Lily.
When Finnegan finished, Susan called him over and asked, "Finnegan, why does Ophelia seem like she doesn't recognize us?"
Celia said, "Did Ophelia say where she's been all these months?"
Finnegan sat down and explained to everyone, "Ophelia was injured back then. She probably hurt her head, which is why she doesn't remember us. She goes by Lily now, but she doesn't completely forget. She knows where home is. She told me she followed the memories to come back here. She went back to our own house yesterday, so I told you she had already come home."
Hearing this, everyone felt relieved.
"As long as she's okay, it doesn't matter." Susan sighed in relief and said, "Wilder hurt his head back then too. Maybe Ophelia will remember someday."
Celia said, "Yes, as long as she's alive. Warmie has her mom now."
Jude was also very happy. "It doesn't matter if she can't remember. She's still our daughter-in-law."
Susan said, "Finnegan, take Warmie to see Ophelia. Maybe it will help her remember something."
Warmie was still taking a nap, and Finnegan thought the same. He planned to take Warmie to see Lily once she woke up.
Upstairs, in the room, Lily stood on the balcony overlooking the entire front yard of the Abbott family mansion. The yard was beautiful, truly befitting a wealthy family.
Lily softly said, "I'm home."
Lily's voice was very light, like a murmur to herself, or perhaps a message to someone.
