Chapter 243 The One Below
That night, Ophe and Finnegan slept soundly, but Lynn couldn't sleep. After taking her medication, she sat up in bed with the sound of their voices echoing in her mind, imagining Ophe and Finnegan together in bed.
She had always considered Finnegan a dominant figure, but she hadn't expected that in terms of lovemaking, Ophe would be the one on top and Finnegan on the bottom.
Ophe's words, "Don't move, I'll take care of it," naturally made Lynn think that.
The next day, Lynn woke up early and encountered Finnegan doing morning exercise in the yard. She changed into her workout attire and joined him outside.
"Good morning," Lynn greeted him with a smile.
"Good morning."
Finnegan was very polite. "How did you sleep last night?" he asked.
"Not bad," Lynn replied with a hidden meaning in her words. "I felt at ease."
Finnegan smirked slightly, his lips showing a touch of indifference. "I hope you can hold on for three months. If you can't, don't force yourself. Experiencing too much emotional fluctuations can worsen your condition and cause severe heartache. It's beneficial for your physical and mental health to listen less to other people's secrets."
Neither of them felt awkward, but Lynn's cheeks flushed when Finnegan exposed her eavesdropping.
"I didn't mean to listen."
Finnegan wiped the sweat off his neck with a towel, and he said coldly, "Lynn, I promised you that you could stay here for three months, but you also have to follow the rules here. You deliberately mentioned the hotel in front of Ophe, and I hope there won't be a next time."
"Did she question you?" A glimmer of joy emerged in Lynn's heart. "She doesn't trust you. I told you, she's not sincere."
"That's your assumption," Finnegan retorted before he entered the room.
Now that she was pregnant, Ophe would often wake up late. Finnegan was sometimes too busy to wait for her to have breakfast together.
Atticus was already waiting at the door, and Finnegan took a shower and left.
With the misunderstanding between him and Ophe resolved, he needed to go back to the neighboring city.
When Finnegan left, Ophe was still sleeping. Looking at her peaceful, sleeping face, he loved her with all his heart.
"Continue sleeping, my love. I am going out to make money."
"Okay," Ophe mumbled in her half-awake state.
Finnegan kissed her and left.
The feeling of having a wife at home resting while he was out working gave him a great sense of pride.
Shortly after Finnegan left, Ophe woke up. She looked a bit dizzy and, when she looked at the messages, realized he had gone to the neighboring city.
Ophe tapped her head and muttered to herself, "I fell into a deep sleep again."
"Ophe."
Old Abbott's voice came from downstairs.
Jude brought Old Abbott to visit Ophe when they heard she was pregnant.
When Old Abbott's saw Lynn at the top of the stairs, she scrutinized her.
Before Lynn could even say hello, Old Abbott grumbled discontentedly, "Where did this vixen come from?"
Lynn's expression turned sour for a moment, and Jude followed behind, also surprised to see her.
"Lynn? What are you doing here?"
Lynn greeted politely. "Hello."
Old Abbott glanced at Jude and scowled. "Do you know this vixen?"
Jude reminded her, "This is Lynn. Did you forget?"
"I don't remember," Old Abbott looked upstairs and said, "Where is my granddaughter-in-law? Ophe? Grandma came to see you."
Old Abbott would sometimes consider Ophe as the daughter of the Parks Family and would sometimes refer to her as granddaughter-in-law or the girl from the Parks Family.
The Old Abbott had dementia, so Ophe didn't mind what she was called. It didn't matter to her.
Ophe descended the staircase. "Granny, Jude, why are you here?"
Old Abbott enthusiastically grabbed Ophe's hand and said, "Ophe, you're pregnant. I heard from Celia."
Ophe thought it was Finnegan who had mentioned it, never expecting Celia to reveal the news.
Ophe nodded. "Yes, I'm almost three months along."
"That's wonderful," Old Abbott said with loving eyes as she touched Ophe's belly. In her hazy gaze, there was not only tenderness but also a hint of regret.
Ophe knew that Old Abbott was reminded of Uncle Abbott again. Old Abbott should regret not having a child with Uncle Abbott.
