Chapter 687 A Glimpse of Ophelia

Finnegan wanted to take Warmie for a walk, so he was willing to step outside.

He hadn't left the monastery in six months. The place was always quiet, unlike the bustling city.

It was winter break, and tourists flocked here for seafood, making it even livelier.

Lynn usually avoided these spots. Seeing the lively atmosphere, she felt grounded.

This was her first time walking through the market with Finnegan.

"Want to grab a bite?" Lynn suggested.

"No, thanks," Finnegan replied, continuing to walk.

Lynn didn't push it. She sensed Finnegan was keeping his distance.

She didn't dare to hope for more with Finnegan. As a friend, she just wanted him to pull himself together.

Nearby, there was a ring toss game that Warmie wanted to see.

Finnegan held Warmie and squeezed into the crowd to watch.

Kids can't resist toys when they're out.

After a while, Warmie saw some balloons and wanted one.

Finnegan handed Warmie to Lynn. "Hold her for a bit. I'll get a balloon."

The balloon stalls were across the street.

Lynn held Warmie and waited while Finnegan crossed to buy one.

He picked a Peppa Pig balloon, paid for it, and was about to head back when he saw a familiar figure. "Ophelia."

Finnegan froze, staring in disbelief at the couple across the street.

The woman was Lily. She and Gavin had finished their barbecue and were heading to their motorcycle, chatting and laughing.

"Ophelia, Ophelia."

Finnegan, as if possessed, was about to cross the street.

It was a red light, but he didn't care. His eyes were locked on Lily, oblivious to the traffic.

He had just taken a few steps when a car approached. The driver honked and braked hard.

Lynn, across the street, saw this and her heart leaped. "Finnegan, watch out!"

Finnegan saw the car and quickly stepped back, narrowly avoiding it.

The car stopped a few feet away.

The driver, drenched in sweat, rolled down the window and yelled, "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

Finnegan ignored the driver, anxiously searching the crowd for that familiar figure.

Lily and Gavin had already ridden off on their motorcycle.

Finnegan searched but couldn't see them. He couldn't believe it was just an illusion.

The light turned green, and Finnegan quickly ran across the street to where he had seen Ophelia, searching again.

Lynn, holding Warmie, walked over. "Finnegan, what are you looking for? That was so dangerous. What's wrong with you?"

"I saw Ophelia," Finnegan said, ecstatic. "Lynn, I really saw her, right here."

Lynn didn't believe it; Ophelia had been dead for a long time.

But she didn't want to discourage Finnegan. "Really? Where is she then?"

"Gone, in the blink, but I'm sure it was her. Ophelia is back." Finnegan was overjoyed, the thought that Ophelia might still be alive filling him with uncontrollable joy.

"Let's go back to the hotel and look for her tomorrow," Lynn suggested, trying to calm him down.

"You don't believe Ophelia is still alive, do you?" Finnegan saw through Lynn's thoughts. "You take Warmie back. I need to find Ophelia."

Finnegan noticed a surveillance camera at the intersection. He decided to check the footage.

Lynn urged, "Finnegan, calm down."

"I'm very calm and very sure. That was Ophelia." Finnegan's tone was cold. "I'm going to check it. You take Warmie back to the hotel."
