Chapter 196 Can Tolerate a Cold

Ophe ate her way from the beginning of the food street to the end—fried potatoes, spaghetti, toasted bread, coffee.

Ophe ate as she walked, and she suddenly missed the old times when she and Seraphina would occasionally make time to go to the night market together, buying trinkets and eating snacks.

But such scenes were perhaps no longer possible in the future, as her state of mind had changed.

Ophe sat down at a stall selling ice cream. "Sir, I'll have a bowl of ice cream."

The weather was hot, and eating a bowl of ice cream was refreshing.

The boss quickly made the ice cream and handed it to Ophe. "Miss, enjoy it slowly."

"Thank you, sir." Ophe smiled and started using her spoon to eat.

After half a bowl of ice cream, Ophe felt full. She had eaten too much.

She burped and was about to pay when a mellow voice suddenly sounded behind her, "You can eat a lot."

Hearing that, Ophe looked up and turned around, seeing Finnegan appear behind her. She was pleasantly surprised. "Why are you here? Aren't you at the company?"

Finnegan sat down and asked, "What did you eat just now?"

Ophe said sheepishly, "Fried potatoes, coffee, spaghetti..."

By the end, Ophe was feeling a little embarrassed. What girl could eat so much?

Finnegan's eyes had a hint of fondness as he reached out to touch her stomach. "You've gained weight," he said.

Ophe didn't notice the tenderness and anticipation in Finnegan's eyes when his hand was on her stomach.

Ophe also touched her stomach. "It seems like I've gained some weight. Lately, I've been focusing on the renovations and doing physical work, so I get hungry quickly. Finnegan, you wouldn't mind if I gained weight, right?"

"I don't mind." Finnegan withdrew his hand. "Whether you're skinny or fat, it's all mine."

He stood up. "Have you finished eating? Let's go home after eating."

Ophe felt a sweetness in her heart. "Did you finish work so early? Is the company not busy lately?"

"If the company needs me to be on duty 24 hours a day, what's the point of employing thousands of people?" Finnegan said as he helped her up. "After eating so much, let's take a walk and relax."

Ophe yawned. She tended to feel drowsy after eating too much, but with Finnegan accompanying her on a walk today, she managed to stay alert.

Finnegan held her hand as they walked by the river, enjoying the breeze and chatting. It was quite pleasant.

Ophe looked into the distance with a face full of happiness and said, "Finnegan, I am truly happy now. Can we continue to be happy like this?"

She cherished the feeling of being loved by someone.

He smiled in his eyes and replied, "Sure."

Ophe smiled back, looking at him, and said, "You are really nice."

She used to be afraid of Finnegan, but now she had a complete understanding of him.

If she had known earlier that Finnegan appeared cold on the outside but was warm on the inside, she would have pursued him earlier.

Unfortunately, Ophe felt a bit down, perhaps due to the river breeze or something else. She caught a cold and had a slight fever when she returned home.

Finnegan was extremely worried. He took her temperature and found that she had a slight fever.

Ophe lay on the bed weakly. Seeing his furrowed brow, she said, "It's nothing, just a slight fever. Taking some medicine will be enough."

"You can't take medicine. Let's go to the hospital," Finnegan said, putting down the thermometer and helping her put on her clothes.

Ophe felt that he was overreacting. "Going to the hospital is so troublesome. I'll just drink more water, take a rest, and take some cold medicine. I'm not one of those delicate noble ladies on TV. I can tolerate a cold."

"No, you must go to the hospital for a check-up. Just because you can tolerate it doesn't mean the baby can," Finnegan said.

Ophe found his words puzzling. "What do you mean by "the baby can" ?"

Finnegan didn't answer and carried her downstairs.

It was already late in the day.

He drove her to the hospital, and she sat in the passenger seat feeling sick.

He occasionally touched her forehead to check if her temperature had increased.

Her body temperature didn't change much, with a slight fever.

Finnegan said, "Continuing to have a fever like this is not good. Drink some water first, and we'll arrive at the hospital soon."

Ophe felt happy seeing how concerned he was and jokingly said, "Yes, having a fever like this is not good. If I won't be good, will you disdain me?"

Finnegan realized what she meant and laughed. "You always have such wild thoughts."

"It's been a long time since you last did a push-up." Ophe asked, "Are you bored of it? Or are you unable to do it anymore?"

Finnegan was speechless.
