Chapter 672 The Monk

Finnegan left everything behind, including his elderly parents and baby daughter, and quietly became a monk.

Celia couldn't handle it. After Susan stopped her, she kept crying, "Lloyd's been gone for thirty years. Why come back now to mess up our family? Mom, why did you adopt such an ungrateful person? You should've let him fend for himself."

Celia, overwhelmed with grief, started blaming Susan.

Susan felt guilty and couldn't argue back.

Seeing this, Jude scolded Celia, "What are you talking about? This isn't Mom's fault. If you can't speak properly, then don't speak at all."

"What nonsense? Ophelia's dead, Finnegan's a monk, and poor Warmie isn't even a year old and already without a mother." Celia wiped her tears and said, "I'm worried. I need to go to the monastery to check on him."

Celia feared Finnegan might do something drastic. After Ophelia's incident, Finnegan had been too calm, and the calmer he was, the scarier it felt. No one knew what he was thinking.

Susan didn't say anything or stop her. Celia got up and left, with Jude chasing after her. Their argument gradually faded away.

Susan stared blankly outside the yard when a sweet voice came from the side, "Great-grandma."

Susan turned around, surprised, and saw Warmie toddling over with a walker. Her chubby little face was still so cute, it could brighten anyone's day. Her soft, sweet voice was heart-melting.

"Come here, sweetheart," Susan said, tears in her eyes, motioning to Warmie.

Warmie moved the walker closer. She could say a few simple words now, but longer sentences were still tough.

Warmie was just learning to talk and walk.

Girls pick things up quickly.

Susan lifted Warmie from the walker, her eyes full of love. "Warmie, I'm so sorry you lost your mom so young."

Susan started to cry. Warmie, understanding, reached out her tiny hand to wipe Susan's tears.

That little gesture made it even more emotional.

Susan hugged Warmie tightly. From then on, Warmie was the future of the Abbott family.

With all the chaos in the Abbott family, Caspian often visited to check on Warmie and Susan. He was shocked but not entirely surprised to hear Finnegan had become a monk.

Celia went to the monastery but didn't see Finnegan. He refused to see any family members, leaving Celia and Jude feeling helpless. They stayed a few days before heading back to Yorkhaven.

Time flew by.

Winter came again to Yorkhaven, and the planned wedding had to be canceled.

Susan came out of retirement to help the Abbott family.

Warmie got better each day, ditching the walker and talking more. Besides Caspian, Lynn often visited the Abbotts too.

Seeing Warmie grow made Lynn emotional. She wished Ophelia could see it.

The Abbotts didn't set up a grave for Ophelia. Wilder eventually placed a tombstone for her next to Dovie's. He didn't go back to France but stayed in Yorkhaven with the Parks family.

Katherine stayed with him, knowing he wanted to be close to Dovie and Ophelia for peace of mind.

Tate behaved well in prison and got a reduced sentence, allowing her to visit home.

First thing Tate did after getting out was visit Aria's grave. She felt she owed it to Aria.

There was no photo on the tombstone since Raymond, who helped with the burial, didn't attach one. It just had Aria's name.

Even the person who set up the tombstone didn't sign it.

Tate placed flowers on Aria's grave, touching the tombstone, and reminisced, "Aria, I'll see the world for you and live well with your share of freedom."
