Chapter 417 Stopping Niamh
Natalie adjusted the IV drip, increasing the infusion rate. These medications were essential for keeping Dovie alive, and both the dosage and speed had to be carefully controlled.
The sudden increase in the infusion rate caused a large amount of medication to flood into Dovie's body. Already in a fragile state, Dovie couldn't handle it. Her face contorted in pain as she struggled to reach out to Natalie. "Natalie."
Dovie was terrified and shocked. Her sister wanted her dead.
Dovie's weak body couldn't take it. Blood surged up from her chest, and she immediately vomited.
Natalie watched coldly and mercilessly as Dovie struggled in pain on the hospital bed. "Dovie, you forced me to do this. Twenty-six years ago, I was the one who stole your daughter and abandoned her. I never thought she would find her way back to you."
Hearing this truth was the final straw for Dovie. She looked at Natalie and suddenly understood everything.
She had underestimated the evil in human nature.
She thought that after the truth was revealed, Natalie would admit her mistakes, repent, and change. She never expected her to plunge deeper into the abyss.
The one who caused her to be separated from her daughter for twenty-six years was her sister.
Her miserable and tragic life was all because of her sister.
If Natalie hadn't stolen her child, her husband wouldn't have died, and their family of three would have been happy.
Dovie was in so much pain that she couldn't speak. Slowly, she stopped struggling and gradually became quiet, forever silent.
When Dovie took her last breath, her eyes were open, looking in Natalie's direction.
Dovie's unclosed eyes in death frightened Natalie, sending chills down her spine.
"Sister Dovie," Natalie called tentatively twice. Seeing no response from Dovie, she reluctantly stepped forward to check her breathing.
No breath!
Natalie stepped back in horror, her mind blank.
She stared at her hands, panicking, "Dovie, don't blame me. We're both mothers. You schemed for your daughter, and I have to scheme for Niamh. The company must belong to Niamh. It must."
Natalie forced herself to calm down, quickly adjusted the IV drip back to its original speed, and straightened the wrinkled bedsheets before rushing out in feigned panic. "Dr. Golden, my sister is not doing well."
The doctors rushed to the ICU upon hearing the news.
Meanwhile, Ophelia and Linda had already arrived at the Parks Corporation building.
Finnegan's connections had bought Ophelia some time. The board meeting scheduled for ten o'clock had been delayed due to a power outage in the entire building, and the backup equipment had also failed. Niamh had workers fixing the equipment.
Ophelia had yet to expect Finnegan to use such a devious method.
It was devious but effective.
It was already past ten o'clock. In the office, Niamh anxiously checked her watch, impatiently urging, "Go see how much longer until the power is restored."
The secretary replied, "Soon, don't worry."
As soon as the words were out, the power came back on, and the lights and air conditioning turned on.
Niamh finally smiled, "Notify everyone. Meeting in the conference room in five minutes."
The meeting was nearly twenty minutes late, but today's chairman succession ceremony had to go on no matter what. The news had already been announced. There was no turning back.
A few minutes later, all the board members were in the conference room, and the succession ceremony began. Niamh sat at the head of the table, unable to hide her joy.
At this moment, Niamh had no idea that Ophelia had arrived downstairs. Tate had retrieved the items from the safe, and Dovie's lawyer, Garrett, was also there.
To add more credibility, Ophelia had even brought a handwriting analysis agency.
They were led by Ophelia, a group of people headed upstairs. Even the lobby security didn't dare to stop them. They recognized Ophelia, the young mistress of Abbott's Corporation.
Ophelia, with her pregnant belly, was accompanied by Abbott Corporation's chief secretary Linda, Parks Corporation's lawyer Garrett, Tate, and the handwriting analysts. This lineup and aura made Parks Corporation employees feel like they were seeing Dovie's shadow.
Ophelia and Dovie had very similar auras.
As Ophelia passed by, people whispered, wondering what major event had occurred.
