Chapter 46 Investigating the Surveillance Footage from That Night
Seraphina was full of anticipation, a bit nervous, and a bit scared. However, Finnegan didn't get any closer. The anticipated kiss didn't happen, but a cold question rang out, "That night, was it really you?"Finnegan started to question Seraphina. He tried to get closer to her, but he still felt no desire; he couldn't find the feeling of that night.
This sudden question made Seraphina turn horribly pale.
Seraphina opened her eyes and looked at Finnegan, whose face was cold. She felt guilty inside.
"Yes, it was me, Mr. Abbott. What's wrong?" Seraphina tried to act calm, "My resume fell in the room, and you picked it up."
Finnegan stared at Seraphina coldly, his hand tightly gripping her shoulder, "I'll give you another chance. Tell the truth, was it you at The Ritz-Carlton that night?"
"Mr. Abbott, you're hurting me." Seraphina was both shocked and scared. She didn't know what she had done wrong to make Finnegan suspicious.
However, she would never admit it; otherwise, she would lose everything.
Finnegan's eyes darkened, "Seraphina..."
"It was me that night." Seraphina was almost crying, and her face turned pale from fright, "Mr. Abbott, what's wrong with you? That night you hurt me a lot, and there was a lot of blood. Don't you remember? You even said you would take responsibility for me; it was you who brought me to Orchid Garden."
Finnegan tried to recall that night. The woman under him was indeed in pain at first; she was begging for mercy while crying, and there was quite a bit of blood on the sheets.
"Seraphina, you'd better be telling the truth. I will have the surveillance footage from The Ritz-Carlton at that time retrieved." Finnegan's tone was icy, "If I find out you're lying, and you had the audacity to deceive me, I will make you disappear from this world."
Upon hearing this, Seraphina's legs went weak. Once the surveillance footage was retrieved, wouldn't her lie be exposed?
"Mr. Abbott, I..." Seraphina was terrified; she was almost ready to confess.
But her vanity wouldn't let her give up all these riches and honors. She was the embodiment of the saying, “Not shedding a tear until seeing the coffin.”
Seraphina changed her words at the last moment, "Mr. Abbott, I didn't lie to you. How could I deceive you?"
Finnegan let go of Seraphina.
In his heart, he hoped that the woman that night was not Seraphina. He sort of hoped it was Ophelia...
Ophelia...
Finnegan realized he had such a thought and was shocked by himself.
In his mind, the scene of him deeply kissing Ophelia unconsciously emerged. His desire to possess her, to grind her into his bones, and make her cry, was getting stronger.
It was the same feeling as that night at The Ritz-Carlton.
Finnegan felt like he was going crazy.
Finnegan’s brows furrowed as he cast aside the distracting thoughts in his mind, and with a cool look in his eyes, he called Atticus, "Mr. Montgomery, go to The Ritz-Carlton now and investigate the surveillance footage from a month ago. Find out who exactly left my room that night."
At first, Abbott hadn't checked the surveillance because he had found a resume in the room. It had a photo, name, contact information, and address, so he didn't feel the need to check the surveillance.
"Yes, Mr. Abbott." Atticus said over the phone, "I'm going now. It will take me about ten minutes to get there. I'll report back to you in fifteen minutes."
Atticus had to pass The Ritz-Carlton on his way home from Orchid Garden. So, driving to The Ritz-Carlton would take him about ten minutes.
Upon hearing that Finnegan was really going to check the surveillance, Seraphina became completely panicked.
This meant that she might only have fifteen minutes left in luxury. Once the truth was revealed, she would be driven out.
Scared, Seraphina stood still, not daring to speak as her limbs went numbingly cold.
Finnegan hung up the phone, his gaze piercing as he glanced at Seraphina, "You have fifteen minutes. In the next fifteen minutes, as long as you confess who the person was that night, I can let bygones be bygones."
There must be a reason Seraphina's resume appeared in the room. If she wasn't the person that night, she must know who was.
Seraphina was somewhat shaken. As long as she confessed to deceiving Finnegan, he might be lenient. But what about the designer bags, designer clothes, and the black card?
She would lose all of these.
Ophelia would become the mistress here. Ophelia was pregnant, and Finnegan might be so happy that he might elevate Ophelia to a higher position and make her Mrs. Abbott.
She would forever be beneath Ophelia, always inferior to Ophelia.
No, she didn't want to lose to Ophelia again. She didn't want Ophelia to have what she couldn't have either.
Seraphina clenched her lips tightly, not saying a word.
