Chapter 691 Searching the Whole City
The security guard stood outside the yard, holding a flashlight.
Finnegan turned and glanced at him. The guard said, "Mr. Abbott, long time no see! Did you and Mrs. Abbott go on a trip? I just saw her leave again and thought you had left too."
Finnegan, about to enter the house, froze. "What did you say? My wife left again?"
The guard nodded. "Yeah, she just left. She was at the door for a while, and I opened it for her."
Finnegan's heart leaped. 'Ophelia came back. But why did she leave again?' he wondered.
He asked eagerly, "Which way did she go?"
"To the left."
Without another word, Finnegan dashed to the basement, grabbed his car, and sped off to find her.
The guard found it odd but shrugged it off.
The streets were packed with traffic and people. Finnegan drove around for ages but saw no sign of her.
Frustrated, he pulled over and called Atticus. "Get in touch with all the advertisers in the city, now."
Atticus was stunned to hear Finnegan's voice. He didn't know why he needed advertisers, but he followed orders.
That night, every employee in Abbott Corporation's operations department was called back to work overtime for one mission: find Ophelia.
An hour later, every billboard, bus stop, and taxi in the city displayed the same message: "Ophelia, I know you came back. Come home, I miss you. Finnegan."
Finnegan's citywide ads shocked everyone. People couldn't believe he was back after more than half a year.
Real estate tycoon Joe said, "Finnegan is really devoted."
Mr. Mark added, "When Ophelia had her accident, Finnegan became a monk. Who else would do that?"
Word of Finnegan's actions reached the Abbott family mansion. Susan sighed but didn't stop him, letting him do as he wished.
Tate saw the ads when she returned from dinner with Eugene and Barbara, with Raymond driving.
Raymond was baffled. "What is Finnegan doing? Isn't Ophelia dead? Wasn't he in a monastery?"
Tate looked out the window. "Finnegan is back."
Barbara was touched. "The Abbott family has a devoted man."
Eugene nodded. "It's rare."
Caspian, at an entertainment club, heard the buzz and went out to see for himself. Ads were everywhere.
Excited, Caspian called Finnegan. "Finnegan, you're really back?"
Finnegan's deep voice murmured, "Yes."
"Where are you? I'll come over right away," Caspian said, thrilled.
"At home," Finnegan answered, waiting for Ophelia to come back.
He left the front door open, worried she might have forgotten the code.
Ophelia was alive but hadn't come home. Finnegan thought maybe, like Wilder, she had lost her memory and forgotten the way.
Caspian arrived in less than an hour.
"Finnegan!"Seeing the open door, Caspian walked in and found Finnegan on the living room sofa. "You're back," he said, overjoyed.
