Chapter 25 I Will Have My Baby
As Ophelia walked out of the hospital, she clutched the folic acid prescription and her medical report in her hand.
She was pregnant with Finnegan's child.
Ophelia felt uncertain about her future, thinking, 'I'm 25, and I'll be a single mother soon? Can I really make it?'
She touched her belly, thinking of the baby inside, and felt a surge of strength throughout her body.
She was an orphan, with no parents or relatives. Now, the baby was her closest kin in the world.
She was no longer alone.
As for Finnegan, Ophelia didn't intend to tell him about it.
She couldn't help thinking, 'If I tell him, he might think I'm trying to extort him. If I lose my job, how can I support to raise the baby?'
'And what if the Abbott family wants to take my baby away from me?'
'What if Finnegan doesn't want the baby?'
Ophelia dared not take the risk.
She checked at the time. It was five o'clock. She decided not to go back to the company and sent a message to Linda: [Linda, I'm heading home.]
Linda was with Finnegan in the elevator, preparing to leave for a social event.
After seeing Ophelia's message, Linda asked: [Did a check-up in the hospital? What's the result?]
Ophelia replied: [I'm fine.]
Finnegan glanced at Linda. "Ophelia messaged you?"
Linda immediately put away her phone, replying solemnly, "Yes, Mr. Abbott. She went straight home after the check-up."
Finnegan casually asked, "Is she all right?"
Linda answered, "Well, she said she's fine."
Hearing this, Finnegan didn't ask further.
The elevator door opened, and Finnegan, with his long strides, walked out, Linda following.

Ophelia returned to her apartment, feeling no appetite. In a daze, she fell asleep on the sofa.
She felt sleepy as she had a lot of overtime work lately.
When she woke up, it was completely dark outside.
Ophelia heard some noise in the kitchen and found herself covered with a blanket.
"Seraphina..." Ophelia's heart leaped with joy, thinking Seraphina had come back, and she quickly went to the kitchen.
Magnus had just made some spaghetti. Seeing Ophelia, he said with a smile, "You're awake. You were sleeping so soundly, so I didn't wanna wake you up."
Magnus also had a key to her apartment.
"I was so tired. Fell asleep as soon as I got home," Ophelia said. "Finished your work early today? No cases?"
Magnus put the spaghetti on the table and handed Ophelia the fork. He was really a domesticated man.
"I finished early today. You've been busy lately. Look at your face. You look quite worn out," Magnus said warmly. "I know you have your work to do, but you should also take care of yourself."
Ophelia felt a bit hungry, but the smell of the spaghetti made her lose her appetite, and she felt like vomiting again.
She said to Magnus, "Get me some vinegar."
Eating something sour might help make her feel better.
Magnus immediately went to the kitchen to fetch it for her.
Ophelia poured a lot of vinegar onto the plate, and the sour smell indeed made her feel better.
Seeing this, Magnus couldn't help asking, "When did your taste change? By the way, are you and Seraphina still at odds?"
"Since our fight last time, she's blocked me. Don't know where she lives now, so I don't even have a chance to make amends," Ophelia said, trying to sound calm. But she still felt a little upset.
She and Seraphina had been friends for over twenty years. She didn't know what went wrong this time.
"I'll help you arrange a meeting with Seraphina, and you two can have a good talk," Magnus said. His hands were under the table, his heart was racing, and his gaze was sincere as he looked at her. "Ophelia, there's something I wanna tell you."
Ophelia, eating her spaghetti, replied, "Actually, I also have something to tell you."
"You go first," Magnus said, his hand under the table clutching a ring box. Having grown up with Ophelia, he had always harbored feelings for her and planned to confess his love today.
Ophelia put down her fork, took a deep breath, and mustered all her courage, saying, "Magnus, I'm pregnant."
