Chapter 191 His First Girlfriend
Magnus was momentarily stunned by Atticus' words before extending his hand. "Hello, Atticus. I'm Magnus."
Smiling, Atticus continued, "The CEO of Abbott's Corporation let me come here. Your law firm passed the review, and the CEO Abbott's specifically requested that you handle the coordination. However, the situation is regrettable now. You've been fired from the firm. I overheard it just now. In that case, I'll have to report back and select a new law firm."
Atticus intentionally said these words for Damon to hear.
He was helping Magnus.
At the moment Atticus approached Magnus, Damon was already shocked. 'Did Magnus really have a connection with Abbott's Corporation? Otherwise, how could he have been personally chosen by the CEO Abbott's and let his assistant come over?' He speculated.
Surprised, Magnus asked, “Are you here on CEO Abbott's orders?"
Damon quickly changed his expression and laughed. "Magnus, I was just joking with you earlier. So, CEO Abbott's sent Atticus to talk to you personally. It is great news! I knew you were capable. Atticus, CEO Abbott's has selected our law firm. From now on, Magnus will handle the communication with you. Magnus is the best lawyer in our law firm. I was even considering promoting and giving him a raise."
Magnus was no stranger to Damon's change in attitude, so he wasn't surprised at all. Magnus also understood that Atticus came because of Ophe.
Just as Magnus was about to decline, Atticus smiled and said, "Vice President Damon, seems like you value talent. Outstanding lawyers like Magnus should indeed receive better treatment. Our CEO Abbott's highly appreciates him."
Damon's full name was Damon Roy.
Atticus was indirectly benefiting Magnus.
Damon was exceptionally capable in handling matters and smiled, saying, "Absolutely, someone with Magnus' talent is highly valued by us. We won't mistreat him."
Atticus said, "President Luo, can I talk to Lawyer Magnus?"
He was implying that he wanted to talk to Magnus alone.
Damon understood and smiled, saying, "You two can talk here. This office is spacious. I'll leave."
Before leaving, Damon gave Magnus a signal, indicating that he should have a good conversation.
Damon left with the employees, leaving only Atticus and Magnus in the office.
Magnus asked directly, "You are CEO Abbott's assistant, so you must know about CEO Abbott's marriage. Did CEO Abbott choose the FP office because of Ophe?"
Through Magnus's words, Atticus immediately understood his meaning.
"Lawyer Magnus, please have a seat, and let's talk. CEO Abbott's greatly appreciates you, and you have the ability in this area. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement. Some things require trustworthy individuals to take care of, and CEO Abbott's trusts you. That's why he reached out to you."
Atticus smiled and said, "I believe Lawyer Magnus also needs an opportunity to prove yourself. Why care about how this opportunity came about? As long as you succeed, you will be deserving of Mrs. Abbott and CEO Abbott's."
Atticus was skilled at communication and understood people's nature. With just these words, he successfully changed Magnus's mindset and sparked his confidence.
Magnus looked resolute and said, "I won't let CEO Abbott's down."
Atticus smiled and said, "Then, let's have a pleasant cooperation."
...
Ophe finalized the decoration plan outside and quickly returned to Orchid Garden.
She needed to go back and prepare so that she could reward Finnegan well in the evening.
Ophe arrived at Orchid Garden and just parked her car when Lina approached and informed her, "Ophe, Celia is here."
'Is Celia here to cause trouble at Orchid Garden?' She brooded.
Ophe quickly walked into the living room. Celia was sitting on the couch, looking like she was waiting for someone.
Ophe still didn't change her address and greeted, "Celia."
In Finnegan's opinion, if Celia wanted to change Ophe's address, she should pay for it.
Besides, Celia didn't like her, so she probably wouldn't want to hear Ophe calling her "mom."
"You're quite sensible," Celia said surprisingly calmly this time. "Come with me to the backyard for a walk."
"Alright." Ophe reluctantly agreed and followed along.
After all, Celia was Finnegan's mother. If there was a chance to improve their relationship, Ophe certainly didn't want to ruin it.
The flowers in the backyard were blooming beautifully. Celia took a stroll and stopped by a pond. She asked, "Ophe, do you know why my son chose to buy a house here and live alone?"
Ophe shook her head and said, "I don't."
"Because of this neighborhood's name, it's called Orchid Garden," Celia glanced at Ophe and said, "Little Finnegan's first girlfriend was named Lynn, and the neighborhood's name sounds like Lynn's. After Lynn left New York, my relationship with Little Finnegan turned sour, and he moved here. If I hadn't intervened between them, they would have been married a long time ago, and you wouldn't have had a chance."
