Chapter 718 Deep Schemes
Caspian's eyes turned serious, catching Lester off guard. Then Lester laughed. "Now I'm curious, who's gorgeous lady that's got your heart?"
"I'll introduce you when I get the chance," Caspian said, already thinking of Tate as his girlfriend. "Lester, I've got something to do tomorrow morning, so I'm taking off soon. Let's wrap up this final drink."
Caspian wanted to get some rest so he could pick up Tate in the morning.
"What's the rush? It's not even nine yet. How about we drink until ten?" Lester suggested, calling the waiter over. "One more round!"
Lester was enthusiastic and had set a time. Thinking ten wasn't too late, Caspian decided to stay.
The waiter went to get the wine.
Caspian had no idea Karen was outside. She'd found out where he was and followed him, looking for a way to stop him from picking up Tate in the morning.
Her plan was that getting Caspian drunk so he couldn't wake up.
Karen had been waiting outside the private room for a while, asking the waiter several times if Caspian was drunk yet. The waiter kept saying he hadn't had much to drink.
Getting anxious, Karen slipped the waiter a stack of cash, asking him to spike Caspian's drink.
The waiter, seeing the money, agreed.
While Caspian and Lester were chatting, the waiter slipped the drug into Caspian's water and handed it to him.
Caspian, not suspecting anything, drank it because he was thirsty.
At first, he felt fine, but as he kept talking with Lester, he gradually fell asleep at the table.
Lester thought Caspian had just drunk too much and teased, "Caspian, can't handle your liquor?"
Caspian was out cold. After calling his name a few times with no response, Lester had someone take him to a hotel.
Karen, watching from outside, saw Caspian being helped out by Lester's assistant and knew her plan had worked.
The club had a hotel upstairs, and with a word from Lester, they took Caspian to a room.
The hotel rooms on that floor were very private, and Karen, wanting to go up, had no way to do so.
Worried Caspian might find out she was there, Karen left.
She went home satisfied, finding her family excitedly preparing to pick up Tate the next day.
Karen wanted to go, but Raymond wouldn't let her, as no one had told her about Tate's release.
Understanding her family's intentions, Karen decided to go herself. She couldn't miss Tate's release day.
"I'm going to my room to rest. Good night," Karen said with a smile. "Tate is coming back tomorrow, so I'll wait for her at home."
Barbara said, "Alright, you go rest. We'll pick up your sister tomorrow."
Karen's considerate act made Barbara feel relieved.
Recently, there hadn't been any rumors about Karen and Caspian, which also eased Eugene and Barbara.
Karen went to her room to rest, playing the role of a good daughter. The next day, Eugene, Barbara, and Raymond left at seven to pick up Tate.
After they left, Karen quietly slipped out. She drove to the prison, calling the hotel front desk on the way to check if Caspian had checked out.
She mainly wanted to confirm if Caspian had woken up. If he hadn't checked out, it meant he was still asleep.
The front desk said he hadn't checked out, making Karen happy. It meant Caspian wouldn't make it to pick up Tate in time.
Karen hung up and drove to a spot near the prison, then walked over.
With a cop like Raymond in the family, Karen had to be careful. She hid across the street from the prison, just needing to see the main gate.
Tate would walk out of that gate.
Eugene, Barbara, and Raymond were already waiting at the gate, with ten minutes to go until eight.
As the time got closer, everyone's mood lifted.
Barbara was all smiles, and Eugene was adjusting his clothes.
When the time came, the prison gate opened, and Tate walked out. Karen saw her and had been waiting for this moment, immediately taking out her phone to capture Tate's release.
