Chapter 555 Every Generation Has Its Reasons for Hatred

Around Lloyd's house, inside and out, people were lurking in the shadows.

In the few seconds that Finnegan appeared, he was already noticed and quickly reported to Lloyd.

When Lloyd learned that Finnegan had gone over there, his expression became serious. At that moment, he was playing with Warmie who reached out to grab his phone and knocked it out of his hand.

Lloyd's eyes darkened, and he looked at Warmie with a hint of fierceness.

Warmie sensed Lloyd's mood and started crying.

This was the first time Warmie cried in front of Lloyd.

The crying made Lloyd's face look even more unpleasant. Susan walked in and asked, "Why is Warmie crying? Is she hungry?"

Susan's voice brought Lloyd back to his usual loving self, and he smiled, saying, "Yeah, Warmie might be hungry."

Susan took a closer look and called the nanny to take Warmie away.

"Lloyd, come with me," Susan said as she walked out.

There was an attic on the top floor, filled with old items.

This attic hadn't been opened for many years, and a thick layer of dust had accumulated inside.

Susan opened the door, and dust flew up, causing her to cough. She walked in and took a box from the cabinet. "Lloyd, open it."

Because it was old, the box was worn and easily opened by Lloyd.

Inside was an old-fashioned knitted hat, handmade, along with a coin and a stack of yellowed letters.

Lloyd asked, "Mom, what are these?"

"These are your parents' things," Susan said. "I should have given them to you thirty years ago, but you never came back after you left home. This coin was given to me by your mother to pass on to you. The hat was knitted by her for you, and these letters are evidence of your father's correspondence with people from Rivonia."

Lloyd grabbed the letters and glanced at them. Just as Susan had said, his biological father was a traitor to the country.

These were the irrefutable proofs.

Susan continued, "You asked me back then if I reported your father. I still say the same thing. I didn't. Your mother was my good friend. Although I hated your father and thought about reporting him, I didn't. These letters have been sealed here and never touched."

Lloyd's face, marked by the passage of time, showed an expression of disbelief. "Impossible."

"Lloyd, I don't know why you came back this time, but some things need to be made clear. How you choose to deal with it is up to you," Susan said, fully aware of everything at her age.

For the sake of future generations, Susan wanted to have a talk with Lloyd.

After speaking, Susan left, and Lloyd read every letter.

Identifying his father as a traitor was an understatement. After reading the letters, Lloyd realized that his biological father was actually from the enemy country Rivonia. He was adopted and raised in the country, and after discovering his true origins, he helped the enemy country, causing the deaths of many people. In that era of war, he committed numerous heinous acts.

Lloyd's mother couldn't bring his father back from the brink, and when the truth came out, she had no choice but to follow him.

Lloyd was raised by Susan, giving him a complete childhood without being scorned.

In that era, if people knew Lloyd was a descendant of someone from Rivonia, he wouldn't have survived.

The blood running through his veins couldn't be changed. Whether it was the people from Rivonia fifty years ago or those from Rivonia now, they would always do unforgivable things.

Every generation has a reason to hate the people of Rivonia.

After reading the letters, Lloyd felt neither gratitude toward Susan nor shame for being from the enemy country. Instead, he felt excitement about fulfilling his biological father's wishes and anger toward those who caused his parents' deaths.

Ingratitude was the hallmark of Rivonia, and selfishness was its legacy.
