Chapter 635 It's Really an Accident
The importance of having a royal father-in-law was evident now.
After Finnegan called, within ten minutes, the entire airport was on lock-down. The airport police began evacuating the crowd and grounding all flights.
Such a large-scale operation caused panic among everyone at the airport.
The people from Moonlight Gate were also puzzled as this kind of situation only happened when a high-ranking national leader appeared. Unrelated people would be dismissed and no vehicles were allowed within a few miles. Police officers would be stationed every hundred feet.
One of the assassins from Moonlight Gate grabbed an airport police officer and asked, "What's going on? Why are all flights grounded? Is some big shot coming?"
With a knife pressed against his waist, the police officer didn't dare to lie. "The prince of Country F is arriving at the airport soon. There's news that terrorists want to provoke a conflict between Rivonia and Country F, so the lockdown was enforced."
Upon hearing this, the Moonlight Gate assassin knocked the officer out, dragged him into a restroom to hide, and then changed into his uniform, walking out confidently.
Moonlight Gate had a death order to find Warmie, and now that it was confirmed she was at the airport, they definitely wouldn't give up easily.
The situation at the airport quickly reached Lloyd.
Lloyd connected the dots. Ophelia was the daughter of Prince Wilder of Country F, and now the royal family of Country F was coming to the airport. There couldn't be such a coincidence.
Lloyd immediately guessed that Warmie had been taken by Finnegan, and they were now at the airport.
Lloyd no longer bothered to question why Finnegan wasn't blind or how he had tracked them to Rivonia. He just wanted to get Warmie back.
Lloyd issued another order. "Warmie is at the airport. Make sure to bring her back to me unharmed."
Meanwhile,Wilder and other members of the royal family of Country F had already arrived at the airport, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rivonia. The royal guards had locked down the entire airport, with guards leading the way both in front and behind.
Wilder got out of the car and immediately walked towards the location Finnegan had mentioned on the phone. The others followed him.
Except for Wilder, no one else knew the specifics and really thought someone was trying to stir up trouble and provoke a conflict between the two countries.
Finnegan knew Wilder had arrived, so he brought Warmie out of a store in the airport.
To avoid the people from Moonlight Gate, Finnegan had already moved to several different locations.
When they met, Wilder saw Warmie and finally felt relieved. "Finnegan, Warmie."
Wilder walked quickly towards Finnegan. He had only recently learned about Warmie's missing.
"Wilder."
As Finnegan walked towards Wilder with Warmie in his arms, he noticed a sniper hiding on the second floor in a mirror from a nearby store.
"Wilder, watch out."
Finnegan shouted a warning and quickly hid behind a pillar with Warmie.
Wilder reacted swiftly and also dodged, but a gunshot rang out, and another Rivonia leader standing next to Wilder was hit and killed on the spot.
After the gunshot, the entire airport was thrown into chaos. The remaining passengers, who hadn't been fully evacuated, fled in terror, and the police were on full alert, protecting all members of the royal family of Country F.
If anything happened, it would be an international incident that Rivonia couldn't afford.
The gunshot scared Warmie into crying. Finnegan held her tightly and comforted her softly, "Warmie, don't be afraid. Daddy's here."
Warmie cried for a while but seemed to feel the safety from Finnegan and stopped crying.
Wilder, hiding behind a pillar six to ten feet away from Finnegan, shouted, "Finnegan, are you and Warmie okay?"
"We're fine." Finnegan hadn't expected the people from Moonlight Gate to actually make a move.
This situation was escalating into a conflict between the two nations. With such a big commotion, the whole world would probably know about it in less than two hours.
Finnegan thought Moonlight Gate people had gone mad.
To be precise, the people from Moonlight Gate were stunned.
The sniper who had fired the shot hadn't meant to. It was an accidental discharge.
It was actually an accident.
Other members of Moonlight Gate, hidden among the crowd or disguised as police officers, were also shocked. Anthony asked through the earpiece in a low voice, "Who did it? Are you crazy?"
Killing a high-ranking leader of Rivonia would bring huge trouble.
Even though he lowered his voice, his anger was palpable. The sniper could feel Anthony's fury through the earpiece.
The sniper stammered, "It was an accident, an accidental shot."
Everyone in Moonlight Gate heard it through the earpiece and fell silent.
