Chapter 48 Ophelia is the Stabilizer
Caspian was completely oblivious and was constantly making crude jokes. Finnegan ignored him and just lit another cigarette.
"Finnegan, what happened? Tell me, don't keep it to yourself," Caspian became serious, "Is there a problem at the old mansion? I heard your uncle is locked up; was it you who sent him to the slammer?"
Finnegan sending Mason to prison wasn't a surprise to Caspian. Finnegan was known for his ruthless nature when he got tough, not even sparing his relatives. Hence, the rumors about Finnegan being cold-blooded and ruthless were widespread.
Finnegan flicked his cigarette ash, "Those are small matters."
"What else could make you so worried, Finnegan?" Caspian was curious, "Is your grandma pressuring you to find her a granddaughter-in-law? Or is it really that you're not performing well in that department... or do you like men? Using an ordinary Miss Kingsley as a cover..."
Caspian's questions became more and more outrageous.
"Are you itching for a beating?" Finnegan's eyes narrowed slightly, and he began exuding a terrifying and murderous aura.
Caspian wisely made a zip-your-mouth gesture and just watched Finnegan silently.
Finnegan was silent for a while before he said, "More than a month ago, I was drugged and ended up sleeping with Seraphina. So, I brought her to Orchid Garden..."
"Finnegan, you had a one-night stand?" Caspian was dumbfounded. He was shocked. The Finnegan he knew was always avoiding unclear relationships with women, especially those he wasn't sure about.
Because Finnegan had a woman in his heart, a taboo that no one dared to mention. Even Caspian didn't dare to bring it up. It was precisely because of this woman that Finnegan, at the age of thirty, had not touched any woman.
And now, Finnegan had a one-night stand?!
Finnegan, himself, didn’t know what to say.
He gave Caspian a cold look, "If you don't want to listen, you can leave."
"I’ll listen; I’ll definitely listen. This is rare gossip..." Caspian laughed slyly and quickly corrected himself, "Not gossip. It’s your romantic history; I must listen."
Finnegan took another puff of his cigarette.
He must be crazy; why was he talking to Caspian about these things? Or perhaps he had no one to confide in, so he continued, "I suspect that the person that night wasn't Seraphina. She gives me a... strange feeling."
Women have a sixth sense, and men have intuition. The reason Finnegan was still keeping Seraphina around was because he wanted to know who the person was that night.
Caspian was confused, "Finnegan, one moment you say it's Seraphina, the next it's not. Who did you sleep with, don't you know?"
Finnegan gave him a look, "I was drunk."
The room was incredibly dark then; he couldn’t even see his own hand clearly. Not to mention, he was also under the influence of alcohol and drugs, which made everything even more hazy.
"That makes sense," Caspian said, "Finnegan, why not check the surveillance?"
Finnegan frowned, "The surveillance footage of The Ritz-Carlton is automatically overwritten. It's too late."
"Then who is this person? Who would sleep with such an excellent man and then hide? If it were me, I'd definitely cling on to you and enjoy endless wealth and glory," Caspian was puzzled, "Finnegan, why not put out an ad and find the person?"
"Is that the best you can come up with?" Finnegan's eyebrows lowered coldly, "I should let everyone in City A know that I was drugged and tricked? And that I slept with a woman?"
"Seems like that's not a good idea," Caspian said earnestly, "Your reputation would be completely ruined, right? By the way, Finnegan, that night, were you on top or bottom?"
He asked very seriously. His desire for gossip was strong.
Finnegan made a move to kick him, "I think you really are itching for a beating."
It was a feigned kick, and Caspian dodged quickly. He was completely unscathed and continued to happily grin, "Finnegan, you're still injured, so take it easy. I heard Miss Sinclair went with you. Is Miss Sinclair okay?"
Upon mentioning Ophelia, Finnegan's mood inexplicably stabilized.
"She's fine." Finnegan gave him a glance, "Is that your real reason for coming?"
"Finnegan, are you suggesting that I prioritize romance over friendship..."
Under Finnegan's oppressive aura, Caspian changed his tune, "Alright, I am that kind of person. Is Miss Sinclair really okay?"
