Chapter 56 Pregnancy Supplements
The word 'no' nearly made Finnegan explode on the spot.
Did Ophelia have other men besides Magnus?
Finnegan couldn't help but sarcastically retort, "Miss Sinclair, you’re very open minded, huh? You’re truly ahead of the times. Pregnant before marriage, could it be that you don't even know who the father of the child is?"
His last sentence angered Ophelia.
Wasn't Finnegan implying that her private life was chaotic?
In her twenty-five years of life, she had only been with one man, Finnegan.
What about Finnegan?
He had a woman in Orchid Garden, and he had slept with who knows how many other women. He probably didn't even know how many times this had happened, or how many seeds he had sown.
"Mr. Abbott, who the father of my child is, is my private business, and I have no obligation to report it to the company." Ophelia, also losing her temper, retorted, "I don't need you to worry about who the father of my child is, Mr. Abbott. On the other hand, Mr. Abbott, a stallion who can't control his lower half, probably doesn't even know where he has sown his seeds. Be careful that one day someone brings a child to your door to recognize you as their father."
With that, Ophelia slammed her work badge on the table, turned around, and left. She was very assertive. She opened the door, glanced at the colleagues outside who were watching the commotion, then closed the door heavily and headed towards the secretary department.
Without waiting for Finnegan to fire her, she decided to pack up and leave.
She had already made such a scene with Finnegan, so she definitely couldn't stay in the company any longer.
Ophelia left in a huff, leaving Finnegan dumbfounded. He hadn't even lost his temper yet, and this woman actually lost her temper at him.
Finnegan's face turned ashen. He slammed his hand on the desk a couple of times to vent his frustration. The employees who were watching the commotion took one look and quickly returned to their seats.
The gossip in the company spread quickly. By the time Ophelia returned to the secretary department to pack up her things, the news of her premarital pregnancy was already causing a stir.
Upon seeing Ophelia packing up, Linda hurriedly asked, "Miss Sinclair, what's going on?"
"Linda, I'll make up my resignation letter later." Ophelia said in a deliberately relaxed tone, "I'd rather save some face for myself. It would be too embarrassing to be fired."
"Is it that serious?" Linda was surprised, "It's just a work mistake. Mr. Abbott won't fire you for that."
Lisa ran in from outside, "Ophelia, I heard from our colleagues that you slammed your work badge on the table in defiance to Mr. Abbott? Is it true?"
There were very few people who dared to slam the table with their boss.
Ophelia was the first one to dare to slam the table with Finnegan.
Ophelia nodded, shrugged, and smiled, "I lost my temper for a moment and couldn't hold it back."
She was leaving anyway, so Ophelia didn't care much anymore.
Linda was stunned and gave Ophelia a thumbs up, "You're the first one to dare to slam the table with Mr. Abbott. Ophelia, how does it feel?"
"My heart was racing." Ophelia laughed, "Actually, I was really scared."
She was really scared, even her palms were still cold and sweaty.
As a worker, she should have swallowed her pride for the sake of her salary. If it had been in the past, she definitely would have endured it. No matter what the boss said, she would just nod and agree, admitting her mistake. But just now, she didn't know why she couldn't hold back.
"Ophelia, you should go apologize to Mr. Abbott. Although Mr. Abbott seems strict, he's actually soft-hearted. Just say a few nice words and it'll be over." Linda advised, "You've only recently become a regular employee. If you get fired from Abbott Corporation, it will be hard for you to find a job in the future."
Ophelia was touched. Linda was being very practical; she was truly considering her future.
In such a short time, she was able to make close colleagues, which was also a gain.
Ophelia shook her head, "If I go in to apologize now, that would be asking for trouble. Lisa, Linda, see you if fate allows, thank you for taking care of me while I’ve been here."
Ophelia packed up her things and just left. She was very decisive and assertive.
In truth, however, the moment she got into the taxi, she regretted it. She had lost such a generous salary due to a moment of anger. It was such a pity.
She was a bit rash just now, but she couldn’t change the past. All she could do was go home.
When Ophelia got home and lay down on the sofa, she started worrying about finding a job. If she didn't earn money now, what would she use to raise her child in the future?
Just as she was thinking, the doorbell rang.
Ophelia got up to open the door and saw Seraphina standing outside.
"Ophelia, you're home. I've called you several times, but you didn't answer." Seraphina came in carrying a lot of nutritional supplements, "These are pregnancy supplements I bought for you, all imported goods."
