Chapter 261 Knowing the Truth, Awakening.
Finnegan and Ophe went to the Hoover Dam together, and they found Magnus there.
Magnus was sitting alone on the grass by the roadside, holding a bottle of beer in his hand.
There were many empty bottles at his feet. He was drinking alone and gazing into the distance.
Ophe got out of the car and looked at Magnus like this, feeling a bit stifled and heartbroken.
"Honey, wait here for a moment. I'll go over," Ophe said to Finnegan, then walked toward Magnus.
Magnus sensed someone approaching. He turned around and looked at Ophe, not surprised because he had come here before, and Ophe always found him.
Magnus's eyes were red; he had been crying, and he looked utterly dejected.
Ophe sat down beside him and said, "Magnus, I'm here to take you home."
This sentence hit the soft spot in Magnus's heart. His emotions couldn't hold back, and tears rolled down his face.
Magnus covered his face quickly with his hand and wiped away the tears. "Ophe, am I really useless?"
"You're not useless; you're just too good; that's why they took advantage of you." Ophe looked at him and comforted, "Although they gave birth to you, they don't deserve to be your family. Magnus, you've tried your best, so don't have any regrets, even though this hurdle is difficult to overcome. But I believe that once you get through it, you will become even better."
Only Ophe knew what Magnus had sacrificed for his family. She knew exactly how much he longed for family affection and the injustices he had suffered.
Magnus wiped his face and said self-mockingly, "I poured my heart and soul into them, but all they wanted was to destroy me, all because of a house. Why would they treat me like this? I can't understand. I'm their son; if it weren't for the paternity test, I really wouldn't believe that they did all these things to me."
The trending videos online and Tobias's every accusation and condemnation were enough to ruin Magnus.
Magnus became a little agitated and poured his heart out to Ophe. "When I found them initially, I was so excited that I couldn't sleep for days and nights. At first, they said they would come to New York to find me, but then they postponed it. Later on, they came with Jett, who was paralyzed. I understand very well that they wanted me to take on the family responsibilities, and I could accept all of that."
Magnus broke down again, choking up, "Even if I have no money, I can do part-time jobs, sell my blood. I bring back the nutritional supplements and eggs from the blood donation center for them to eat. Are those eggs? That's my blood. They drink my blood, gnaw on my flesh, and even want my life. If that's the case, why did they give birth to me? I really can't understand."
Ophe gently patted Magnus's back to calm his emotions. "I just went to find Serenity. She's still just a child and doesn't understand anything. Her words were taken out of context and manipulated by Tobias and the others. Tobias probably didn't expect such a scheme; it should be related to your paralyzed older brother. I have already obtained the evidence that you are innocent and can clear your name at any time. However, with this grudge in your heart, others can't help you with it. You can only rely on yourself to get through it."
Magnus took a deep breath and composed himself. "I know they want to destroy me so they can get the house. They also want to go back to their hometown and buy a villa with the money from the million-dollar house. Lately, Tobias has been pressuring me to sell the house and go back with him, but I don't want to. He secretly brought people to the house to view it, but I found out, and now they are thinking of doing this again."
So that was the case, just as Ophe had suspected.
Ophe looked at Magnus, whose emotions were gradually stabilizing, and said thoughtfully, "Magnus, there's something I've always wanted to tell you but never had the chance. I think you should know now."
Magnus asked, "What is it?"
Ophe said, "You once told me that your older brothers and sisters all died in accidents. The truth is, except for Jett, Tobias sold Riley's every child. Addison, whom you've met at my Japanese restaurant, is from Apex Village, the same village as Tobias. The entire village knows about him selling children."
Magnus couldn't accept this cruel truth; his facial muscles twitched, and his eyes widened.
