Chapter 474 Bad Idea

Ophelia was quite worried about Tate. However, to her surprise, as soon as she and Finnegan arrived home, they saw Tate had already returned.

Tate was always as cold as an iceberg. When she saw Ophelia, she opened her palm, holding a box. "A gift for Warmie."

Inside the box was a necklace, clearly valuable at first glance.

This necklace was probably worth a hundred times more than the monthly salary Finnegan was paying Tate. If Finnegan accepted this, Tate would probably be losing money working for them.

"Tate, this is too..."

Before Ophelia could finish her sentence, Tate already handed the necklace to the awakened Warmie, who reached out and took it.

Ophelia was speechless. Warmie seemed to really like it.

Tate said, "It's nothing, just a small token of appreciation. I apologize for missing the banquet. I won't disturb your rest any longer. I'll head back now."

Her words indicated that she had a house in New York.

Ophelia subconsciously nodded. "Alright, you should also go back and rest early."

As Tate passed by the two, Finnegan caught a hint of a metallic smell.

Finnegan glanced at Tate. It seemed like Tate was injured.

Tate didn't mention where she had been these days, and they didn't want to pry.

After Tate left, Ophelia said, "Tate is so generous that I feel bad now. How much do you pay her each month? Why would she give Warmie such a valuable necklace?"

The necklace was adorable and beautiful, obviously carefully prepared by Tate.

Finnegan said, "Thirty grand."

However, this necklace...

Finnegan took it from Warmie's hand and examined it, and his pupils contracted slightly. An artist crafted this, and its value was priceless.

'How could Tate have such a valuable item? And she just casually gave it to Warmie?' he wondered.

Tate, who had left the Abbott family, had just returned to her residence in New York when she noticed signs of someone having entered her house.

Tate looked around warily and coldly commanded, "Come out."

A blond man in his twenties with a jade pendant around his neck emerged from the guest room, smiling. He was Tate's junior brother, Anthony.

"Tate, are you just back now?" Anthony grinned. "I heard you got a big deal and made a lot of money and treasures. Let me see."

Although Anthony's face bore a smile, it was not sincere. It was clear he was eyeing the treasures.

Tate's reward was the necklace she had given to Warmie. She thought it suited Warmie well and gave it away casually.

"The items have been handed over to the employer. If you want to know about the treasures, go see for yourself." Tate's tone was cold. "Get out, I need to rest."

Anthony wasn't capable enough to take on this deal. Otherwise, it wouldn't have fallen to Tate.

They shared the same master, but they were also in a competitive relationship.

Anthony caught a whiff of blood and smirked, "Tate, are you injured?"

Approaching, Anthony wanted to check Tate's injuries but was deterred by Tate's gaze. "Leave on your own, or shall I send you off?"

Anthony didn't dare approach. Angry but silent, he left with a threat. "My dear senior sister Tate, I heard you want to leave Moonlight Gate and sign a bet-on agreement with Master. You're so naive. Do you really think you can leave Moonlight Gate?"

A flash of killing intent passed through Tate's eyes. "Get out."

This time, Anthony didn't dare to say more. Having known Tate for years, he understood Tate's temperament. She was a cold-blooded killer and whoever provoked her would be in trouble.

"Tate, we are part of Moonlight Gate for life, so stop thinking about ever living an ordinary life. Don't be too naive." Anthony left with a grim expression after dropping those words.

After the man left, Tate finally relaxed her guard, sat down on the sofa, and touched her chest, where she was injured during a mission.

The next day, Ophelia woke up and realized Finnegan was not in bed. She checked the time and found it was past nine.

'It's the weekend today, and Finnegan wouldn't go to the company. Why did he get up so early?' she thought.

In the winter of New York, even after nine o'clock, the sky was still gloomy.

Ophelia freshened up and went downstairs, where she heard Caspian's voice. "Finnegan, you must save me. Let me hide here for a few days. They're horrifying. What if they really want to kill me? I won't even see them coming!"

Finnegan replied, "Provoking them was a bad idea, and you should know that."

"Who would've known they're so terrifying? Don't hate the player; hate the game. It's not my fault they couldn't handle it!"

Caspian clung to Finnegan. "You have to help me! How about you get me a strong bodyguard? By the way, where is that moving iceberg?"

He was referring to Tate.
