Chapter 49 Playing Dumb

Finnegan really wasn't sure if Ophelia was okay.
She hadn't undergone any medical examination.
They had been in such a severe car accident, so it must have resulted in some bumps and bruises.
Finnegan couldn't understand why Ophelia refused to get checked out. Was she worried about the cost?
Finnegan sent Caspian away, and finally, there was peace and quiet.
That night, Finnegan had a relatively peaceful sleep. He had the housekeeper change the house's aromatherapy to a mint scent, which had a calming effect on him.
The following day.
Finnegan got up and went downstairs for breakfast. He didn't plan to go to the office today.
Finnegan was wearing the clothes Ophelia bought for him, which the housekeeper had washed and dried the night before.
"Mr. Abbott, your milk is heated," Lina brought the milk over and asked, "Miss Kingsley hasn't gotten up yet, would you like me to wake her?"
Usually, as long as Finnegan was home, Seraphina would get up early and linger around him. But today, it was already past eight, and she still hadn't gotten up.
Little did Lina know, Seraphina was hiding in her room, afraid of seeing Finnegan.
Finnegan didn't want to see Seraphina either, and casually said, "No need."
In Lina's understanding, those simple two words meant that Finnegan cared about Seraphina and didn't want to wake her.
Lina smiled and said, "Mr. Abbott, you sure know how to be considerate. Old Lady Abbott would be relieved if she knew."
Finnegan didn't explain, nor did he bother to.
After breakfast, Finnegan left the house. It wasn't convenient for him to drive or bring a driver, so he simply hailed a taxi and went to Orchid Bay Community.
After Caspian’s visit last night, he kept wondering if Ophelia might really be in trouble. Finnegan couldn't help but worry and ended up here.
Finnegan only knew that Ophelia lived here, but he didn't know which building specifically.
Just as Finnegan was about to call Linda to ask, he saw a flashy car pull up.
Who else could it be getting out of the car but Caspian?
Caspian was here to visit Ophelia. He got the address from Linda after much persuasion and immediately came to pay her a visit.
Caspian was surprised to see Finnegan there as well, "Finnegan, what are you doing here? Could it be... you're also here to see Miss Sinclair?"
Would Finnegan admit it?
Impossible.
Finnegan said expressionlessly, "I have a golf game with Mr. Brown from Universal Prosperity Bank."
"Why are you here then? Why are you not at the golf course? This is Miss Sinclair's residential area," Caspian asked without tact.
Finnegan fell silent then quickly thought of an excuse.
"My car broke down here; I'm planning to take a taxi over."
"No wonder I didn't see Mr. Montgomery. Finnegan, you're injured; it's not safe for you to go out alone. Don't you know how many people hate you now? Those from your uncle's family must bear a deep grudge against you," Caspian said earnestly, but Finnegan was not in the mood for this topic, "Your uncle maliciously tampered with your car, so you should check your other cars. Finnegan, here comes a cab..."
Caspian saw a taxi coming and hailed it for Finnegan, "Finnegan, get in the car quickly. Weren't you going to meet Mr. Brown?"
Finnegan's expression became gloomy.
Caspian was grinning; he even helped him open the car door, "Finnegan, hurry up."
Finnegan walked over with a stern face, hinting, "Caspian, it's best not to walk at night these days."
Walking at night often led to accidents.
Finnegan was so annoyed that he wished he could stuff Caspian into a sack.
"Finnegan, I didn't offend your uncle and his family. What should I be afraid of?" Caspian laughed, "Finnegan, get in the car quickly."
Finnegan had no choice but to get in the car. Could he admit that he was here to see Ophelia? Wouldn't that be a slap in the face?
Caspian kindly closed the car door and said to the taxi driver, "Sir, go to the golf course ahead."
The driver started the car, and it quickly merged into the traffic.
After the car turned at the next intersection, Finnegan said, "Pull over."
With Finnegan's intimidating aura, would the driver dare not stop?
Even if he was confused, he could only pull over.
When the car stopped, Finnegan got out and handed the driver a hundred dollars for the fare.
Before the driver had time to give change, Finnegan said, "Keep the change."
Leaving these words behind, Finnegan walked in the direction of Ophelia's community.
He had to walk back.
To avoid running into Caspian, he couldn't enter the community now, so he just found a place nearby to sit.
Meanwhile, Caspian had already knocked on Ophelia's door.
Ophelia was still in the kitchen cooking pasta, having woken up late that morning.
Hearing the noise, she went to open the door.
She was stunned to see Caspian standing there. "Mr. Hawthorne? How did you find this place?"
"Is there anywhere out of my reach?" Caspian laughed. "I heard you were in a car accident, so I came to pay a visit. By the way, I ran into Finnegan at the entrance of the community just now."
"Mr. Abbott?" Ophelia was surprised. "What was he doing at the entrance of my community?"
Caspian said with a meaningful smile, "Miss Sinclair, do you really not know what's on Finnegan's mind? He must have come to see you. Finnegan was too shy to admit it and claimed he was going to the golf course. Since Finnegan was being so stubborn, I hailed a taxi for him and sent him off to the golf course."
Ophelia dumbfounded. What on earth was he talking about?
After boss's baby, she Escape
