Chapter 202 Suppressing For Now

A hug meant nothing to Finnegan.

Finnegan's focus was on who took the photograph and sent it. The photograher's intention was clear.

Finnegan had wanted to call Ophe and inquire, but he realized it would be too abrupt. Ophe was pregnant now, and he wouldn't do anything that could affect her mood.

Finnegan tore the photograph into pieces and threw them in the trash bin, then continued working as if nothing had happened.

At that moment, Old Abbott called, "Little Finnegan, come to the house tonight with your wife. I want to see Ophe."

Now, she didn't even mention him.

Finnegan didn't hesitate and replied, "Okay."

"Then, come earlier." Old Abbott was very pleased.

Ophe went directly to the FP office. When she mentioned that she was looking for Magnus, her colleagues pointed her in his direction.

"Lawyer Magnus's office is over there."

"Thank you." Ophe smiled and walked toward the office.

Magnus used not to have his own office, but now he was the Hermes of the firm. Not only was he getting promoted and a salary raise but he also had his own office.

Magnus successfully handled several cases, winning all of them.

Magnus's reputation was slowly growing in the legal world.

Ophe stood at the office door, watching Magnus in a meeting with clients through the glass door. Deciding not to interrupt, Ophe waited at the door.

Magnus noticed Ophe and couldn't bear to keep her waiting. He said to the person he was talking to, "I understand your situation now. You can go back, and I will take on this case."

"Thank you, Lawyer Magnus," the person thanked repeatedly. "I'm counting on you."

Magnus gestured for a colleague to escort the person out, then got up and walked toward Ophe. "What brings you here all of a sudden? Come inside and have a seat."

Ophe stepped inside the office and glanced around. "You're doing well now, Magnus. You have your own office. You finally look like a real lawyer."

Magnus poured water for Ophe and felt ashamed. "I am to bask in your reflected glory, Ophe. I finally understand that connections matter more than hard work. Without opportunities, everything is zero. I really appreciate you and Finnegan giving me this opportunity."

"That's because you have the skills. Both Finnegan and I believe in you," Ophe replied as she sat down. "How have you been lately? How are your parents doing?"

"My dad adapted to life here quickly. He goes to the community to exercise with older adults and chat. My mom is doing well, too. She takes care of Serenity's school drop-off and pick-up every day and has made friends in the community. They buy groceries and chat together. My older brother is still in poor health."

Magnus smiled and said, "Everything's going well, Ophe. Thank you."

Ophe saw happiness in Magnus's face and felt satisfied with his current life.

Magnus's words were filled with contentment when talking about his parents.

Ophe asked, "Do you like your current life?"

"It's pretty good." Magnus smiled. "When I come home, I have family waiting for me and food prepared. The whole family is harmonious. I'm quite satisfied with my current life."

Magnus's income had increased, his life had improved, and he no longer needed to work as hard as before. He could also shoulder the responsibilities of his family and breathe a sigh of relief.

Magnus's words made Ophe unsure whether she should mention Tobias selling their child. Magnus was content with his life, and revealing the truth would shatter his happiness.

Perhaps Tobias and Riley have repented. After all, they are his flesh and blood, so there must still be some emotional connection.

Magnus asked, "Ophe, did you come here for something today?"

"Yes," Ophe said. "My Japanese restaurant will open on the 15th of next month. I invite you to come and support it."

Ophe still didn't say it, deciding to observe Tobias and Riley first. She didn't want to stab Magnus in the heart.

"That's for sure." Magnus chuckled. "Ophe, congratulations! You've always wanted to open a Japanese restaurant, and now you've made it happen."

"Yeah, it feels like a dream come true. It's great." Ophe smiled. "I hope we both keep getting better. I won't bother you anymore, and I have to go back."

"Alright." Magnus got up to see her off. "Ophe, I'll repay the money you gave me as soon as possible."

Ophe didn't want to hurt his pride, so instead of saying she didn't need it, she said, "Alright, no rush."

Ophe had intended to take a taxi back, but she received a call from Finnegan. He would come to pick her up, and they would go to see Grandma Abbott's together.

Ophe sent Finnegan the address and waited by the roadside for a while.
