Chapter 367 Brain Overload
Atticus opened the video and handed it to Finnegan.
Caspian, curious, leaned in to watch. After viewing it, Caspian felt his hair stand on end.
"That's so brutal. This is inhumane. How can someone do something so cruel? That's a living person being run over repeatedly. Where is their humanity?"
In the video, a car repeatedly ran over Sybil. The first time, Sybil didn't die, and you could still see her moving in a pool of blood. It wasn't until the second time that she stopped moving.
After that, the car ran over her three or four more times.
The scene was too horrific to watch, even for a man like Caspian.
The car in the video did not have a license plate, and the driver's face was not clearly captured. It was just a blurry side profile.
There was no way to identify the perpetrator.
Finnegan furrowed his brow. It was obvious someone was trying to set a trap for him, deliberately sending the video without showing the perpetrator's face, wanting him to investigate further and toy with him.
"This video is clearly edited. It's not the full version." Finnegan said, downing his glass of red wine. "Let's pretend we didn't see it."
Atticus nodded. "Yes, Finnegan."
He didn't question Finnegan's decision. Orders from his superior were to be followed without question.
Caspian was puzzled. "Finnegan, why not hand the video over to the police? This is murder. This woman died so horribly. We should find the killer."
"Fine, then you handle it." Finnegan said, giving Atticus a look. "Forward the video to Caspian and let him seek justice."
"Okay, Finnegan." Atticus looked at Caspian seriously. "Caspian, I'll add you on WhatsApp and forward it to you."
Caspian said, "Don't send it to me. I'll have nightmares."
Caspian didn't dare to watch it again as it made his scalp tingle.
Finnegan chuckled lightly. "Didn't you want to seek justice? Chickening out already?"
"Finnegan, don't laugh at me." Caspian said. "Are you really not going to do anything?"
"She is a Parks Corporation employee. Why should I care?" Finnegan said. "I'm busy every day. I don't have time for these minor issues. That's the police's job."
Finnegan didn't bother explaining further to Caspian. He put down his wine glass and told Atticus, "Notify everyone of a meeting in ten minutes."
With that, Finnegan went into his office's lounge, intending to call Ophelia. Even while working, he constantly thought about her.
Seeing that Finnegan really wasn't going to do anything, Caspian muttered, "Finnegan, you're not usually this cold. Aren't you afraid the victim will haunt you in your dreams, asking for help?"
Atticus chuckled and asked, "Caspian, is this your first day knowing Finnegan?"
Caspian retorted, "I've known him for over twenty years. So what?"
Atticus said, "The woman in the video is Sybil, a Parks Corporation employee who tried to jump off the company roof. She had a grudge with Niamh and died tragically a while ago. Can you guess who sent this video and why it was sent to me?"
Caspian couldn't guess. "How would I know who sent it to you? Are you in cahoots with the killer?"
Atticus sighed, "Caspian, although you've known Finnegan for so long, you haven't learned anything from him. The police couldn't find the killer. If a good Samaritan had filmed this, they should have given it to the police, not me. The sender wants Finnegan to see it and get involved in the case. Do you think Finnegan is someone who can be manipulated?"
Caspian shook his head. "No, only Finnegan manipulates others. No one dares to manipulate him except Ophelia."
Atticus said, "Finnegan won't get involved, so the sender will naturally get anxious. Finnegan was right. Getting involved in this case would waste time."
"Then why did you show the video to Finnegan?" Caspian scrutinized Atticus. "Do you have any ideas?"
"The sender sent it and I had to present it to Finnegan. Otherwise, how would Finnegan predict the sender's next move?"
"Does Finnegan know who killed Sybil? Sybil wasn't related to Finnegan. Why would the sender think Finnegan would care?" Caspian was full of questions.
Finnegan's cold voice came from the direction of the lounge. "Because this is related to Niamh. The mastermind behind this isn't just Niamh's accomplice in killing Sybil but also the one who killed Seraphina. Niamh is just a pawn. The real target is me."
Caspian needed clarification. "Finnegan, slow down. My brain can't keep up."
