Chapter 277 Confirming Ophe's Identity

Magnus had no place to go, so he chose to stay in a hotel instead of returning to Ophe's. He didn't want to trouble her.

When Riley went to the Rose Garden to find Magnus, she found he wasn't there. Ophe was upstairs reading when Lina informed her, "There's a lady downstairs looking for Magnus."

Ophe immediately knew who it was. She had given Riley time and opportunity, hoping Riley would come to her for help in clearing Magnus's name. Ophe didn't expect Riley to show up now. She knew why Riley had come, and though she didn't want to see her, she thought about the trouble Riley might cause Magnus.

Ophe said, "Lina, please take her to the parlor. I'll be there shortly."

Ophe changed her clothes and went downstairs. Riley was sitting on the sofa in the parlor, looking uneasy. She hadn't touched the fruit or coffee on the table. The villa was luxurious, exuding an air of wealth.

Ophe walked over to Riley and asked, "Why aren't you having coffee?"

Riley, feeling nervous and embarrassed, said, "I'm not thirsty. I came to find Magnus. Is he here?"

Ophe replied, "No, he's not. I knew you would come here after all the online commotion. But I'm curious about what you want with Magnus?"

Hearing that Magnus wasn't there, Riley stood up and said, "If he's not here, I'll look elsewhere."

Ophe advised, "Riley, I suggest you don't bother. He's your son. Do you really want to push him to his limits? He has no obligation to support you because you don't deserve to be called parents."

Ophe's words were harsh, but she knew that Riley needed to face reality. Riley looked at Ophe with red eyes, a pitiful and weak look. However, Ophe didn't feel sorry for her. Riley, in her opinion, was not worthy of sympathy.

Once you compromised with someone like Riley, there would be endless troubles. Riley said, "Magnus is my son. Tobias is his father and brother. How can a family be like enemies? A family shouldn't hold grudges. You don't understand. Our family can't be without Magnus."

Ophe was furious. "How dare you come here and try to take advantage of Magnus? Have you ever raised him for a day? Riley, I used to think you were ignorant and weak, that you had no choice. Now I see that you're just as ruthless as Tobias. When it was your turn to take care of him, you sold him. Now, you dare to demand support."

Ophe couldn't believe how shameless some parents could be. If it weren't for Riley's age, Ophe would have cursed at her.

"It was wrong to sell Magnus, but we had no choice. We were poor and had no other way." Riley's eyes were filled with tears as she said pitifully, "Magnus's father and I are old and can't work. Serenity is still young, and Jett is paralyzed. If you are in my shoes, what will you do? Magnus is our only hope."

Ophe couldn't hold back her anger. "If I were you, I would rather starve than have the face to seek help from Magnus."

Riley shook her head and thought that Ophe was still too young and impulsive. Riley left the Rose Garden, but Ophe still sent a message to Magnus and informed him of what had happened.

Magnus wasn't surprised, as he had heard similar words from Riley before. He knew that they still hoped he would come back and support them, but that was impossible.

Magnus had planned to find another place for Riley and Serenity to settle, but now it seemed unnecessary.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of the North City Orphanage, a luxury car pulled up, and Natalie stepped out.
