Chapter 558 Spending All His Wealth to Save Niamh
One day, Ophelia had just come out of Abbott's Corporation when Jesse blocked her path.
Jesse, wearing glasses and looking quite refined, said, "Ms. Sinclair, may I speak with you?"
Ophelia directly refused, "No. If it's about Niamh, let her stay in jail. Don't come bothering me. If you push me, I can't guarantee what I might do."
Merely holding Niamh accountable was insufficient. Considering Seraphina's life, Dovie's life, and even Magnus and Sybil's lives, the sum of all these lives far surpassed the debt owed by Niamh's life.
With Ophelia accompanied by her assistant and bodyguards, Jesse refrained from being overly assertive. Considering Niamh's pregnancy, he had to once again moderate his tone.
"Ms. Sinclair, Niamh lost her mind. The doctor had drugged her on that day. That was why she did that. She saved Finnegan and never confined him. Finnegan was injured and unable to move. It wouldn't be accurate to label that as confinement.
Speechless, Ophelia chuckled, "No wonder Natalie was backing you. Do you believe Niamh Finnegan is being saved by Kaitlyn? Jesse, what's your endgame? You've taken over Niamh's resources and are now trying to bail her out. What a paradox you are. Is it for the child Niamh is carrying? Are you sure it's yours?"
Ophelia said this last sentence deliberately to provoke Jesse.
She was tired of Jesse's harassment. If Jesse stopped trying to help Niamh, it would be less of a hassle for her.
However, Jesse was really stubborn.
Jesse adjusted his glasses and stated, "I love Niamh, and I am confident that the child she is carrying is mine. Being an orphan, I yearn for a family. If you consent to releasing her, I am prepared to offer all my assets in return for Niamh's liberation. I will take her away from City N and never return. I assure you that Niamh will not trouble you any further."
This truly surprised Ophelia.
Ophelia studied Jesse intently. "I never imagined Niamh would have such a dedicated man by her side. However, you will be let down. I will not go easy on her."
With that, Ophelia walked past Jesse, disappearing from sight with her assistant and bodyguards.
Jesse stood there, his fists clenched and his eyes brimming with hatred as he glared in the direction Ophelia had departed.
Despite lowering his guard and being prepared to offer all his resources, Ophelia still refused to release Niamh.
Rejected, Jesse went to CC Club to drink and vent his frustration.
After Deacon's passing, the ownership of the club had shifted, but Moonlight Gate remained the ultimate proprietor. The club served as a hub for gathering information and identifying targets.
Jesse sat in a booth, nearly emptying a bottle, when a stunning woman approached him. "Hey there, handsome. What's on your mind?"
Jesse was irritated. He knew the tricks of women in nightclubs and said disgustedly, "Go away."
The woman didn't walk away but instead sat down next to him with enthusiasm, placing her hand on his shoulder. "What's bothering you? Tell me, maybe I can help."
Jesse, intoxicated and less inhibited, blurted out, "Can you help me bail someone out of jail?"
The woman laughed, "Well, well, who's the unlucky person in jail? While I may not be able to help, I know someone who can.""
Jesse, grasping at his last hope, asked, "Who can help?"
The woman smiled and slipped a business card into Jesse's suit pocket. "Call this person.. As long as you can pay, any wish can be fulfilled."
With that, she rose, blew Jesse a kiss, and left.
Jesse took the card out of his pocket. It was Moonlight Gate's contact information, an email address.
Later, back home, Jesse actually sent an email to that address, pledging to relinquish all his assets if they could secure Niamh's release.
