Chapter 347 Silencing Witnesses
Seraphina spoke with a particularly sinister and wanton smile as if she was waiting to see Ophelia make a fool of herself.
Her gaze was especially indifferent, not like a longtime friend but more like a longtime enemy.
She had reached this point with no other way out, so she didn't care about anything anymore and said whatever she wanted.
She had been arrested, but Niamh was still free.
Niamh was the ruthless heir to Parks Corporation and would make Ophelia suffer.
Ophelia found the Seraphina in front of her extremely unfamiliar. She chuckled softly. "So, this is what you've always thought. It seems that whatever I say now is meaningless. You won't reveal the person behind this."
"I did it alone. No one instructed me. I was just jealous and couldn't stand your arrogant demeanor." Seraphina denied it all. "Ophelia, I've always been in your shadow. You hooked up with Finnegan. You're a hypercritical person. I hate your condescending attitude. You traded your body for benefits."
The more Seraphina spoke, the harsher her words became. Ophelia thought she would get angry, but she listened calmly. This calmness even made Ophelia herself feel scared.
Facing insults, she could still remain so composed.
As Seraphina became more agitated, Ophelia deliberately said, "The abortion pills Niamh gave you back then must have been used up, right?"
Seraphina answered without thinking, "Yes."
By the time Seraphina realized, it was too late. A flash of fear crossed her face, and she quickly said, "I don't know Niamh. I told you, I did it alone."
Ophelia coldly curled her lips. "Seraphina, you can choose not to speak today, but you might not have another chance in the future. As long as I have doubts, whether Niamh was involved or not, I won't let her go. It's just a matter of time."
Seraphina kept insisting. "I did it alone."
Ophelia looked at Seraphina with indifferent eyes. "You won't give her up because you think things can't get any worse for you. Even if I let you go, Finnegan won't. You want to take the fall alone, with Niamh free to constantly cause me trouble, making you feel better."
Hearing this, Seraphina panicked. Ophelia completely saw through her thoughts.
"No, it's not like that," Seraphina denied, slamming the table in agitation. "I told you I did it alone. I don't know Niamh."
"Sybil has been tracking you and Niamh. How many times you've met, when, and where, these details are all clear." Ophelia stood up. Facing the stubborn Seraphina, she saw no need to say more. "Old friend, our bond ends here. Seraphina, take care of yourself."
As Ophelia turned to leave, she thought of something and said, "By the way, you might not fully understand Niamh's character. You're planning things with an even worse person. After you came in, Sybil died. It was Niamh who did it. You're keeping secrets for Niamh, but she might not let you go. Think about it."
With that, Ophelia left. Seraphina was terrified as she had thought that even if she went to prison, she could still come out alive. But now, she wasn't sure anymore.
Since meeting Ophelia, Seraphina had been in a daze. She was cautious everywhere in the detention center, afraid others would harm her.
"Seraphina, it's time to eat."
A correctional officer came to deliver food, opened the door, and brought the tray inside.
It was usually left at the door, but this time it was brought in. Seraphina was a bit scared, not daring to eat or make a sound.
At that moment, the prison guard lowered their voice and said, "You won't be in here for long. You'll be out soon."
Hearing this, Seraphina looked up. "Who's saving me? Is it Niamh? I knew she wouldn't abandon me. When can I get out?"
Seraphina clung to the correctional officer's arm like a lifeline. "You'll be free soon." the guard said with a meaningful smile, handing the food to Seraphina. "Eat up."
