Chapter 45 Does He Want Her?
Magnus raised his hand, "I'm busy for the next few days. I have a divorce case. There’s a dispute over the couple's property, and the court hearing is the day after tomorrow."
Seraphina said, "I have some time. Ophelia, do you have something to do? Are you going for a prenatal check-up? I can accompany you." She wanted to know more about the baby in Ophelia's belly.
"It's not yet time for prenatal check-up. The doctor told me to go next month," Ophelia said. "I was just asking."
"Then I'll accompany you next month," Seraphina was very proactive. "Magnus is a man; he's not as attentive."
"Okay, I'll definitely call you then," Ophelia joked. "Just don't block me again."
"Of course not," Seraphina felt a little awkward. "I was just angry."
Ophelia and Seraphina stayed and chatted at Magnus' place for a while and then left. Seraphina insisted on sending Ophelia back home.
When they arrived at Orchid Bay Community, Ophelia asked, "Aren't you going to come in and sit?"
Seraphina stood outside the door, showing no intention of going in. The 650 square feet rented apartment no longer matched her temperament.
"I need to rush back, so I won't sit down," Seraphina hesitated. "Ophelia, you should reconsider. It's not easy being a single mother; you're still young."
"Do you want me to abort the baby?" Ophelia asked back.
"I don't mean that; I just want you you think it through, don't act rashly," Seraphina didn't dare to admit her malicious thoughts; she was worried that Ophelia would begin to suspect her.
She smiled and said, "We're good friends, no matter what decision you make, I support you."
Ophelia was firm, "I have thought it through very clearly."
Seraphina was at a loss for words.
She smiled awkwardly and said, "Then you should rest; I'll come to see you tomorrow."
Seraphina left. She had lived in the rented apartment for several years, but now she didn't even want to go in when she was at the door.
Ophelia wasn't stupid; she naturally saw that Seraphina didn't want to go in.
How could she be willing to return to such a small rented apartment after getting used to living in a big villa? It was easy to go from frugality to luxury, but hard to return from luxury to frugality.
Ophelia closed the door and took a few days off in peace.
Orchid Garden.
When Seraphina returned, she found that Finnegan had already come back.
Seraphina asked Lina, "When did Mr. Abbott come back?"
"Just now," Lina said. "Mr. Abbott is in a bad mood; his expression is quite gloomy."
Seraphina asked, "What happened?"
"I'm not sure. Mr. Abbott returned from the old mansion like this."
Lina didn't say much.
Seraphina went upstairs and ran into Atticus in the corridor.
"Mr. Montgomery, what's wrong with Mr. Abbott?" Seraphina was somewhat polite to Atticus. Atticus was a favorite of Finnegan's, and she didn't dare offend him.
"He's not in a good mood." Atticus always respected Seraphina. "Miss Kingsley, would you like to go and talk to Mr. Abbott?"
Atticus thought that Seraphina, being the only woman who could live here, must carry some weight in Finnegan's heart, so she would be effective in cheering him up.
Seraphina immediately felt this was an opportunity, "Okay, I'll go find Mr. Abbott."
Seraphina plucked up the courage to go to Finnegan's room, where a maid was tidying up.
Finnegan's discarded clothes were on the sofa, stained with blood. Finnegan, who had a cleanliness obsession, would not wear them again. No matter how expensive the clothes were, he might only wear them once.
Just as the maid was about to take the clothes away to dispose of them, Finnegan came out of the bathroom in a bathrobe, his voice cold, "Take the clothes to be washed, and bring them back tomorrow morning. Make sure they are clean, hand-washed, and not damaged."
This suit was the one Ophelia had bought for $150.
The maid looked as if she had heard wrong. How could Mr. Abbott wear clothes with stains again?
"Yes, Mr. Abbott." Despite her surprise, the maid respectfully took the clothes to be washed.
Seraphina was standing at the door, listening to Finnegan's conversation with the maid.
She waited until the maid left before entering, "Mr. Abbott, you're back."
Finnegan saw Seraphina come in. He wanted to send her away, but thinking of the familiarity Ophelia gave him, he suddenly pulled Seraphina over, pinned her against the wall, held her shoulder with one hand, closed his eyes, and slowly leaned in.
Seraphina's face turned red, and her heart raced.
She couldn’t believe it. Did Finnegan want her today?
Seeing Finnegan about to kiss her, Seraphina also closed her eyes...
