Chapter 652 Placing Oneself in a Deadly Situation to Survive

Finnegan stayed at the hospital with Susan tonight. He had already informed the hospital staff that there was no need for night rounds.

Susan, after eating and drinking her fill, went to sleep.

Finnegan headed to the hallway for a smoke and texted Ophelia, checking if she and Warmie were out cold.

Ophelia knew Susan was faking her illness, so she wasn't worried. She had just put Warmie to bed when she saw Finnegan's message.

Ophelia: [What about you? How's Grandma Susan?]

Finnegan: [She's asleep. You should rest early too.]

Knowing that Finnegan couldn't leave the hospital, Ophelia didn't wait for him. She washed up and went to bed early.

The news of Susan's critical condition continued to spread online, maintaining high levels of attention.

Moonlight Gate also sent people to the hospital to inquire about Susan's condition. Finnegan had already arranged everything. No matter how they asked, they would only get one answer: Susan was critically ill.

In the middle of the night, a nurse came to check the rooms and deliberately went to Susan's room.

Just as the nurse was about to push the door open, Finnegan stood at the door, claiming, "Someone just checked."

The nurse, wearing a mask, glanced inside. "Then I won't disturb you."

With Finnegan standing at the door, the nurse couldn't get close to Susan.

The nurse turned and left with the tray, took a few steps, then looked back, meeting Finnegan's sharp gaze.

The intense look made the nurse's heart skip a beat, and she quickly lowered her head and left.

Finnegan watched the nurse's back but didn't expose her identity.

He had already instructed that there would be no night rounds.

Yet, a female nurse came to check, and Finnegan naturally guessed she was from Moonlight Gate.

Finnegan didn't expose her; he wanted her to report back.

As expected, Lloyd didn't believe it and sent someone to check, acting quickly, just as Finnegan had anticipated.

As Finnegan expected, the female nurse was indeed from Moonlight Gate.

She left through the emergency exit and, once in a secluded area, immediately called to report. "I just saw Susan lying in the ward, very ill, wearing an oxygen mask. The news is true, and Finnegan is at the hospital."

On the other end, Anthony received the message and immediately reported to Lloyd.

After reporting, the nurse took off her uniform and threw it in the trash, then left through the hospital's back door.

As soon as she stepped out, a blinding light shone in her eyes, making everything white and impossible to see.

Before she could react, police officers appeared and cuffed her.

When the light moved away, her vision cleared, and she saw who it was, stunned. "Raymond."

Raymond's name was well-known within the Moonlight Gate.

"Was wondering when you'd show up," Raymond declared, snatching the woman's phone and unlocking it with her face. He scrolled through the call log, spotting a call placed a mere two minutes ago, confirming her report.

Raymond raised his hand. "Take her away."

The woman realized she had been tricked, but it was too late to warn anyone.

She was taken away secretly.

Raymond stood there and called Finnegan, "We got her. She already reported back."

From the moment she went downstairs, everything was under control. Once she came, she wouldn't be allowed to leave.

No matter when she reported back, she couldn't escape being caught.

Finnegan stood by the hospital room's floor-to-ceiling window, put down his phone after the call, and looked into the distance.

The show was just beginning.

Lloyd had already received the news. He had felt something was off during the day, but now with the news that Susan was critically ill, he was anxious.

Lloyd was very cautious and didn't act immediately; he was still waiting.

This was a tug-of-war, testing who would lose their patience first.

On the third day of Susan's hospitalization, news of her death hit the headlines.
